here is why i replaced mine

i actually thought it wasnt there at all!!!!

remember ; manufacturers spend ALOT of time developing/testing a car which they sell out of the factory (or dealer) getting the balance right. for a daily driver like my 4AFC poo, running the thermostat FTW!

Any one has a photo of 18R thermostat?
I still can't get a part number for it, so I think a photo can help.

Talk about a collection of misinformation broken up by intermitant words of wisdom.

If you think your car doesn't require a thermostat You are retarded ! If you need to run it without one to keep it cool (aka Mr Drifter I'm to fucking cheap to put in a decent cooling system into my hotted up S15) then your coolig sytem is not adequate for the job.

It really is a simple theory - If you let the water pause and cylcle through the radiator like its supposed to then it will be cooler when it hits the engine and remove more heat.

As kinda discussed Cars have thermostats for 2 Basic reasons, The first is well covered - to get it to heat up to runing temp faster. No one who cares about there car gives them a hard time when they are running cold.

The second point IS to revent over heating. If the water does not cycle then once it does get hot, it can't cool down as there is no way for it to improve on its cooling efficiency. (Ie on a dyno or a 40 deg day in traffic) whoever told you that needing athermostat was a myth does not understand the basic concept of a vehicles cooling system and hopefully does not work on anything other than lawn mowers !
