Start by pulling off the heat shielding and the hoses above it. Ive got a feeling that you can get the rear turbo out without removing the inlet pipe.
Quick Edit: Heres a top notch guide on how to remove them Click Here
Hey guys I’ve just started removing my ct12a’s of my 1JZ because they are stuffed. I’ve already hit a wall! Here’s where I’m up to:
How exactly does everyone get to the bolts that directly join the piping to the rear turbo? One is circled here, and the other one is along side and further back than the one pictured.
I tried going underneath and above but I can’t squeeze a ratchet in there, nor a ring spanner. Help!

I'll have a shot of removing the piping around the inlet and taking the shield off.
Thats the guide i'm going by since im very much new to this, the guide doesn't go into detail with the removal of the inlet pipes but the soarer engine bay seems to be a little less cluttered than my supra's so it may of been much easier for him.
no need to undo those 2 bolts your talkin bout but if you feel you must the easiest way is from underneath with the exhaust dropped.
cheers

there is really no need to remove them.
they dont really get in your road.
but the shielding will, so remove that.
hmmm, on the subject of ct12a removal, has anyone unbolted the manifolds from the head, and pulled the whole thing out?
EDIT: does that sheild around the brake fluid thing unbolt from the bottom??

also taken the factory dump pipe off without removing turbos.
SUPER FUN TIMES is an understatment!, but not impossible with a lot of patience and some lateral thinking (cheap disposable spanners that you dont mind modifying also helps).
yeh we modify our spanners aswell. supercheap auto ftw.
did you take the studs out?

I've taken all the shields off which has gained me a tiny bit more room. I've just hit up bunnings for a bunch of 50c spanners to bend into various shapes. If that's still too hard im just going to remove everything else around it since there's probally no real need to remove it anyway.Originally Posted by jak

its easiest i found to drop the exhaust from the dumps and reaching up from underneath with a spanner, try and get one thats inbetween the length of a stubby and a sidchrome one
fucken nightmare.
i swapped my dump out (tee-hee) with the turbos still bolted to the manifolds, had to wind the fuckwit studs out, took 5 spanners, bent in different shapes, and 1 special spanner i ground down in thickness to wind the studs themselves out.
fun fucken times!

Underneath 4tw... that is the easiest way to get into that spot (not sure easy is the right word though).
Trust me, I removed my turbo's on and off 4 times several months ago (long story with memories im trying to repress). Actually in the end I kinda liked doing it?... wtf is with that LOL.
You've got issues if you were liking it Rob.. lol
Issues is an understatement. It's given me the shits already and i've only just started, Ive already got cuts all over my hands!Originally Posted by Hybrid
