Speaking of this does anyone have any pics of a V8 Supercar diff?
I'm still trying to work out how they run that much camber with a live axle,
I'd really like to see how it works with the CV's.
Leeroy, thats a barreled axel. +ve rep for finding a pic, now just to find a good illistaration of how the "ramp" on the hub works.
The diff side of the axel is normal th hub side has a barreled spline

I remember ages ago reading about how the NASCAR boys used to put massive camber on their live-axle rear ends, but it got so extreme there were a string of major accidents from catastrophic axle failures so they had to limit the maximum allowable rear camber.
As Bill says though with modest angles it's not a big deal. These guys were shooting for 4-5 degrees!![]()

ROTFL,
As stated previous last time i saw under a V8 supercar (mid last year) they had a what looked like a harrop 9inch floater, if you looked closely you could see the ramps.
Im pretty sure HRT (and similarly budgeted teams) are running somthing far removed from this.
Becasue they run a spool i have heard of having hubs with a internal ratcheting mechanisim to get over the turn in push. also hollow carbon axels (I cant 'say' i have seen one but im pretty sure they exist in some V8supercars) and wizz bang bits
yeah i cant find pics of the Xtreme Rotaries (GURU) floating axle kit anymore
they seem to have taken it down from their website
but this is what is required to run more than a little camber on a live axle
