Default elec guru's need help with fuses

after i did my 1jz conversion and got a walbro in tank pump installed my car blew a efi fuse.
at the time i had no idea why so i rang sideshow and he told me the pump can draw excess current or something and to replace the efi fuse with a 20amp instead of the recommended 15amp

now, my old computer became stuffed for unknown reasons and caused the car to run rich as all fuck when on boost.this took a while to diagnose, and i put the cause down to a fault with the ecu

but driving along tonite and the fuckin new ecu i put in begins to show signs of the same problem.
iam going insane with worry as ive just got my car actually running properly 5 months after the conversion.

could this excess current from the efi fuse somehow burn out something in the ecu????/
or any other suggestions would be handy

    cheers

man a walbro intank shouldn't keep blowing the efi fuse, you could have another fault. I haven't blown any with my intank walbro.

I don't think having the higher fuse would burn the ecu out, even though the efi fuse does go directly to the main relay and the ecu pos side. but the fuses are simply a protection, the items will only draw as much current as they need, they just stop the draw going high and frying something in a spike situation.

i know you said you problem shot before, can you tell us what you looked at before i go firing off suggestions?

cause to be honest, running rich as all fuck on boost really sounds like a map sensor issue, does it run rough normally?

    no it runs allright normally.
after thinking about it. i think the only reason why the efi fuse blew the first time was cause something got lodged in the fuel lines, which would of overspeed the pump or something.

when i trouble shot before, i checked the temp sensors, coil packs, spark plugs, & fuel system
i ended up fixing the problem by directly replacing the ecu, with a mates ecu,
last week i took my ecu to get repaired ( a couple of compacitors were changed ) chucked it back in and was running like shit just like before, chucked my mates back in and everything was fine, so it has to be the ecu not anything else,

but i guess the problem now is diagnosing what is destroying the ecu's
i know this is an allmost impossible task over a forum but i thought i would try anyway, see if anyone else has had a similar experience.

if all else fails ill take it back to sideshow who wired it up in the first place and get him to have a look.
allthough i dont really have the money for that
or another ecu + paying for my mates ecu

iam beggining to wish i never did this conversion

Hey mate, I'd highly suggest to check your EFI wiring diagrams and checking all the wiring, also does it have a fuel pump ECU? Check the wiring on that if it does.

Also another question (Excuse my limited knowledge on 1jz wiring) but does it have 1 or 2 efi realys/fuses?

With my 2jzgte conversion (From na - tt) I installed an extra EFI relay and fuse as the NA only had one, it may be the case that you've had another Relay put in and the wiring is wrong or something is potentially shorting, or even the wiring on the fuel pump could be badly crimped.

well if your ecu has "burnt" out again maybe take the covers off and look for anything that may have burnt out.

do you still have that afc neo thing on yours? maybe try disconnecting it and returning it to stock. I know my ecu hates my safc, it has some major issues when ever its connected, including even though the thing was tuned, after a while the learning fact of the 1J ecu comes into a real problem. mine started running stupidly rich, so i disconnected it, haven't had any issues since

yea i did disconect my neo. just in case

it only has 1 fuse, but the 1jza halfcut had exactly the same fuse box as mine so i think thats all sweet as well

i dont kno if the ecu has "burnt out " or what is wrong with it to be honest. very mysterious.

oh well ill have a look at all the wiring and check it all out

    thanks for the help fellas
