Default anyone here an auto elec or a RWC'er

i took my car down to the mod shop today, passed
then took it to the RWC place, didnt pass, they said the shift lock switch neede to be hooked up to the brake light, instead its below a trim piece in the center console, all u need to do is push down the trim and it unlocks the shifter, he said thats illegal and needs to be wired back up to the brake pedal. i said ok, he said his auto elec can do it but will be somewhere in the vicinity of 150-200 bills

does that sound right, or is that fully legal the way it is.

he gave me the RWC so i could get my plates but he wouldnt let the car leave the shop till it gets fixed, so the cars registered, but he still has the car and my $200 so the work can be done, should i take it elsewhere or is that the going rate to hook that up

The wire only needs to be grounded I think so you just have to connect it to the brake pedal switch.

I wouldnt think so. Maybe $90 tops. Thats if it works the way I think it works.
The switch under the trim just earths a wire to unlock the shifter?
