I have done plenty of turns on this diff and I have driven about 200kms before I did
teh skids. I also called the diff shop that put it in, they did a small run in procedure
similar to the one you mentioned, but only for about 20 mins or so. So i rekon it'll be
apples boys...don't be so negative. I'm gonna drop the oil before next track day so
I'll have new stuff in there.

Onto the subject of OIL. Fark its hard to find ANYONE near me that stocks decent
oil. All repco stock is shit oil, and apparently, they cannot "look up" a product unless
you give them the product code? WTF? All the other places were exaclty the same.

So it looks like all I can run in my diff is Castrol LSX-90 or LSX 85-140,
    OR Penrite Limslip 90.
Anything else is just too damn hard to get. And after 40 mins on the phone, I am over it.

Which one should I use, LSX-90 or LSX 85-140? Or tell me a place close to North Sydney
    that sells decent damn oil.

    Cheers,
    Bart

I ran mine in on LSX90 then changed to penrite 90-140 or whatever the blue shit is. Dont stress. You diff wont explode or fuck up because you didnt drive around in circles for 14hours. Do skids and enjoy it.

Did about 15 minutes of figure 8's in my Cusco 1&2 way diff when first installed. Haven't had a moments problem (touch-wood) with it in about 6 seasons of racing. I changed the fluid after run in, and once again just recently. Fabulous diff, still performing well.

That's good to hear Laurie. And you'd thrash it pretty hard too hey?
I have done about 2-300kms driving now, so it would be well and truely worn in.
I went and did about 20 minutes more of slow figure 8s last night just in case!
What oil do you use in your cusco laurie??
I'm thinking of getting LSX-90? or should I get LSX-85-140?

Cusco rekons these diffs last a whole D1 season without needing a rebuild!!!
    That should do me fine.

Last time I was in a hurry and put in some KAAZ GL-5/80W-90. I've just landed some Cusco super 140 (80W - 140) to use next time. Everyones opinion varies, I just figure Cusco diff = Cusco oil.

I had a mate in Japan send it over. Surely someone in Aus can supply a similar spec LSD oil.
    API/GLS/SAE/80W-140.Semi Synthetic.
I love the way japanese companies package their products with dumb english slogans, yet supply no info in english at all. Kaaz for example, package their LSD oil with "Power and speed are mans' obsession. We are in ecstatic with the technology. Trust in our dreams." Huh?

I did fuck all of a "run-in procedure" with my Cusco 2-way in my Spoontah, and my diff is still tight and sweet as the day it got put in. Granted that it's noisier and a bit more aggressive than when it was brand new, but that's what 2-way LSD's are like, especially the Cusco ones it seems, everyone appears to say they get louder and angrier as they age.

I reckon I've done about 2/300km's on the original oil from when the LSD went in, and last night I hooked outta my street before putting the Spoontah on the trailer, and the thing just hooked right up with a smidgen of 2nd gear throttle. I reckon I would have had the Public Order and Riot Squad at my house if I did figure-8's in my cul-de-sac for an hour haha.

I need to drop my car off tonight to get the diff and gearbox oil changed,
so I just went and bought some Penrite Limslip 85W-140.
It is as close to 80W-140 as I could get weight-wise,
and it is a refined mineral oil with a hypoid and friction modifier,
so this is basically semi-synthetic yeah? It is the same stuff as Limslip 90,
just with a weight closer to the cusco specs provided by Laurie from his cusco diff.

If this is way wrong and should be changed, let me know ASAP as it'll be going into
    the diff soon!

    Cheers,
