Cheers mate. What turbo charged engine would you recomened? And are conversions difficult? cheers. thanks again for the help
4A-GZE with turbo conversion (1.6 litres)
3S-GTE (2 litres) (or use a 5S-FE bottom end for 2.2litres)
Plenty have carried out both of these conversions, browse the members' rides for variations on these, some would be in different vehicles, but the principles would be the same.
or if you want a challenge, you could drop a 1g-gte in it.

3s = expensive to setup, BUT proven reliable, OFF THE SHELF PARTS!
1g = cheap, but getting old, BUT a tough motor!, but most perfomenace parts are custom made,
SR20's.....good...old technology, cheap parts, but need alot of parts to make power required.(my opinion they are very overated!)
haha i got a 1g in mine so i guess ill say that, but otherwise i would say sr20det for cheap and easy to fit... its only a corolla so who cares what motor goes in it![]()

Thanks for the help everyone
What work is needed for the 4agze turbo upgrade? obviously new engine mounts, exhaust manifold and down pipe, lines oil supply and drain, but what about the ecu? and the ke55 were can i find out the original weight of the car from factory? so i can do this equation for the engineers....
cheers
should be in the manual.
sr20's are noisy and rattle heaps.
1g in celica = quick as with some basic mods.
1g in corolla = holy shit

According to drive.com.au the kerb weight of a KE55 is 875kg but check on your rego papers. I think it would be more like 890-900kg.
Talk to cuzzo on here as he has done a 4agte in a KE30 (will be same for KE55). It is engineered and rego'ed in NSW. His members rides thread is here.
For engine mounts for 4ag into KE30 see here. Again, it will be the same for the KE55.

thanks so much everyone i will take everything into acount for my final decision but i really do wana keep the toyota a toyota down to engine ect.. thanks everyone cheers..
well guys and gals i have just checked my rego papers, and because the car is engineered for the 3t/2tg engine it went over the weigh bridge and this weight is now on my papers 1040 kg pretty heavey i thought..... does anyone know the tare weight for the ke55 sedan? i need this to find out max engine size upgrade with my engineers.. i really wana drop a 1jz gte in her but i only want to put this engine in if it can be past by my engineer... he said original tare weight times 2.5 and this is max for turbo engine upgrade..i have already currently completed suspention, diff and brake upgrades this was done for the current engine..
at 1040 it would be possible as th celias re like 1070 and cm c60cc of being ableto put a 2jz in.

just call the RTA tech section, they have the weights that are used for calculation of the engine size.
stop farking about
what weight it is now has no bearing on the allowable engine size.
if you are asking how much is involved in an engine conversion, i suggest you spend some time looking around. it is straigthforward if you know what you are doing.
ECU, will be stock... unless your engineer allows you to put in an aftermarket one..
in fact.. find an engineer first and talk to them. they will tell you what you can/cannot and are required to do.

860kg is ke30's
no way in hell you will get a 1jzgte legally registered and engineered in nsw...
mine weighs 1080kg with big diff brakes electric seats and a 1ggte in it
