I realise this, but it's too hard to explain it to most people.
I'm one of those people who got theres before the rule came in... Less then a month left!!! (Would have been of them if I wasn't so lazy upgrading to my greens)

Just buy a good NA car and learn how to really drive it for a couple of years and then turbo it when it's legal.

no its not Illegal for current p platers.. if you read into it with depth the performance modifications are only those that are beyond owner approval IE you need an Engineers slip .for it to be legal that are banned..

so a zorst and an pod filter are fine imo

I've scoured the RTA website for this info, could you please provide a link to the document that specifies this, as every document I've seen just specifies a performance upgrade.

Edit: As for owner approved, you can raise displacement 15% before this is allowed, do cams, and headwork.
Basically, end up with a fairly quick car. Which, you'd find would be banned.

You could not be more wrong.

Cars come out and meet ADR's and the well liked NCOP in standard form. When you change things on them, the thing you car changing has not been certified and no longer meets these guidelines. This goes for anything, hell even stereos, gearknobs, steering wheels, pretty much everything.

Now when you change an exhaust or air filter not only are you increasing noise - which requires engineer approval to state that it meets the guidelines, but you are also affecting the cars emissions - clearly one of the biggest factors in having cars allowed on the roads.

You lose your license for 3 months and then are under passenger restrictions. They may impound the car depending on why you got pulled over.

3 Months later you will be back driving again.

Solution: Get QLD license and rego the car in QLD. Restrictions FTL!

Match that with the unregd, uninsured fine that you will also cop if you're unlucky, and it adds up real quick!

    7points for a P1 driver driving restricted vehicle ($397)
Unregd Uninsured, another 4 points (Plus $1000)

That's 11 points you just racked up...

Now have fun waiting until you can drive again (Takes 3 years to clear demerit points from when they started)
So affectively, you could be up for 3 years without a licence.

Where are you getting your information from?

Im pretty sure its just 7 points which is your license gone (red p's=4 and green p's=7points thats why its 7)

How do you then get fined for uninsured and un-regoed? Has nothing to do with anything.
