If you're driving a restricted vehicle, it is classified as unregd, and uninsured.

It all comes from the fact, that your insurance (Even green slip) is null and void if you're driving a restricted vehicle. If you have no green slip, you have no rego.
    Therefore, unregd, uninsured.

I also read somewhere on the RTA site if you're driving a restricted vehicle, they deem it unregd.

nah this is incorrect, they cant classify it as uninsured if it is infact insured nor the rego part. i think you may have misread it or been given incorrect info.

if you can find the extract on the rta site i would believe you but till then id have to call bullshit.

Haha love the fake turbo whistler!!

After receiving the whistler, please tighten every nut and bolt you see on it with a box-type wrench. You don't want to accidentally loosen up and fall apart.
I'd hate to loosen up and fall apart, better go tighten my nuts now lol. Anyone got a box wrench?

Linden: An easy way: Read the conditions of your green slip.
Then read the conditions of registering a vehicle with said greenslip.

You'll find having no greenslip = no rego.

Edit: Jak: It is only against performance modifications towards the engine.
Rims, body kit, paint, stereo, suspension, all legal. ( as long as you keep it all approved)

that i understand, but if the car is regoed they CANT book you for unregistered/uninsured.

if you where drive it home for a mate they could book you for driving the car but not for anything else.

as stated find an extract or stop quoting something you dont have the facts on.

i have a mate thats a cop, would you like me to ask him and get him to answer?

    cheers

Hey why not do a stealth nitrous install instead. It'd be easier to hide, give you similar or better performance (I think a 150 shot would wake the old camry up a bit), easier to fit/maintain than a turbo and blow the doors off all your mates cars. (provided you don't torque steer into a tree on the launch).

Nitrous is also banned/illegal for street use, but f**k it, if you're going to break the law, void insurance and possible kill yourself anyway you might as well do it with gas!*

Anything is possible, i have seen footage of a twin turbo DC2 Integra with both turbo's down the back of the car near the rear wheels, (Americans will do anything to be different)

But as a P plater the best thing to do would be getting the car to handle and stick to the road before you start looking at go fast bits. you will have just as much fun at slower speeds believe it or not.

To answer the original question a lot of the bigger modified yank trucks seem to mount the turbo right up the rear... like just before the rear muffler.

Also the GT8 has two turbos that you would be hard put to find if you didn't know their location...

Edit I dont reccomend doing this... as a p plater you should buy a shitter and learn to work on it. Save your pennies then when you are on your full's you have more $$$ to get a better car... don;t sink money into that car.
