well on inspection it looks like everything is in one piece.
it looks like the springy bit in the middle of the diff has been hitting the top of the cog at the front of the diff that connects to the prop.
everything is in once piece still just looks worn where the two bits have been smacking.
I got all the bits of metal out of the diff and re-filled it and it now turns (was locking before, must have been small bits of metal in the cogs) but still making a knocking sound from the passenger side driveshaft.
Could it simply be a bearing as gone?
