    Blake,

My TA22 is 1973 and is legally engineered for Harness's. I could only get a half cage legally passed ( a 6 point cage is basically just not legal in NSW anymore altho I do know an engineer that will pass them) and of course the car is legally registered as a 2 seater. The Harness had to be fitted to the stock seat belt mounting points and had to be ADR compliant. They are a seabelt 3 point. There are very few ADR compliant belts but you get them and use the stck mounts and you should be sweet

I strongly recommend trying to get your ticket from a legit engineer such as John at consulmotive, As Stew has mentioned, when push comes to shove, Legal and Engineered are not the same. My RA28 was not done by John due to some time restrictions BUT everything on it will pass if I every need to get re-ticketed.

how are the 3 point harnesses hooked up?

is the main link at the rear running to the REAR belt mounts?

do you think that the roll cage harness bar would pass? or it has to be a factory mount?

id imagine it would use both of the original mounting points plus a custom one.

Anyone reckon the rpm 5 points would pass?

    Blake,

My rear Harness mounting point is in the rear seat belt mount on the parcel shelf. I recommend talking to your engineer before you buy the Harnesses or fit them so you can do what He wants, after all he is the guy writting the ticket.

the harnesses in the mr2 are sabelt ones so i suspect they are compliant with adr 4.

blake if your car is pre 76 and it doesn't comply with adr 4c you can the get the engineered.

adr 4c is for retractable seatbelts.

im still not 100% on how the mr2 passed but will let you know as the guy that did it is 100% legit.

    cheers

yeah 6-point rollcages is very difficult to get road rtegistered now, a lot of engineers are referring to the new DOTARS regs that are coming and are not passing them. the MONZA 4 point and RPM racegear 4 point 2" harnesses are both ADR approved, nice and cheap at $99/$150 respectively.
Harnesses that are Y type - where the shoulder straps merge into a single attachment point are being outlawed by CAMS as the FIA has removed the homologation of all Y type harnesses.

If you are going a 6 point cage, why use 3 point harnesses? As far as I am aware, they are not cams approved, and they are definately not fia approved. Also agree with posts up there ^^^ have a chat to an engineer about this, not us! They will give you a more definate answer. I have doubts that harness only will pass, but you never know! They number 1 reason why the ferrari enzo is not approved for australian roads is that it comes stock with harnesses and no provision for retractable belts.

No harnesses have ADR's in Australia as it costs the company thousands of dollars to get them to comply. The only harnesses years ago that complied were Rainesfords because they had an ADR stickers sewn on to them.
It doesn't matter what harness you use if the rego people or police don't like them they will put your car off the road. You can run the standard belts and the harnesses together
and they cannot do anything about it

yeah, a lot of people do seem to think that aust standards are the be all and end all in the engineering world

however it is just a standard and depending on what it is and how long ago it was approved as a standard is key

there have been companies on trial that have claimed "australian standards" in compensation cases and almost immediately have been thrown to the wolves. australian standards are def not something i would defend my career as an engineer with

now that i think about it....,the roll cage HOOP mount are tight up against where the factory seatbelt reel should be,....

so might have to move the actual reels, and mount them forward a bit more, then having to remake the reel mounts,

i'll check on that next time i have a look
