Sorry Crownman we hijacked your thread. ST 141 Carona would be a good IPRA car Celica without the panel price, plenty of space, nice and wide,3sg turbo would get the old Rona going.
Get into the best and most diverse class in Australia
Cheers Dave.

Glad I'm not racing in your state, then. That's a really shitty attitude, especially if as mentioned the guy tried to apologise for his crappy driving and you did the worst thing possible in that situation. It doesn't help you, him or racing in general.Originally Posted by strat
Club-level racing, and that's what IPRA is, doesn't need your kind of arrogant arseclown. Go race in some filthy bogan class like Brutes if you want to act like that

I love how people can just make dumb ass comments without knowing the full story. indigoid have you been living under a rock! IP is full of arrogant arseclowns, I fit right in.
If it is club level or national it makes no difference, WE ARE RACING!!! If you want a social club go join a RSL.
As far as a corona is concerned it would be ok if you could get it under a 1000kg but i doubt it. The suspension geometry would be good but the weight would kill it. bp18t will kill me but Build a KE70 Crownman light good suss angle and if it dont work sell it to a drifter.

There is a method in the madness
Hey Fellas, just wondering who can help me. I am looking for a manifold from a 3K engine they tell me it has to come from maybe a KE20 but it has to have big ports as to suit that big port type head and also twin outlet. Its for a project that a mate is attempting
Actually, I haven't been living under a rock. I've been to almost every IPRANSW event in the last 12 months (including the FoSC events), attended the driver's briefings and podium presentations, done pit crew work for a good friend, met and chatted to a lot of drivers and their entourages, and generally had a bloody good time. I wouldn't keep doing it (by the end of an event I'm utterly exhausted and usually take the Monday off work to recover!) if it wasn't fun and friendly.
What it boils down to is that we're not racing for sheep stations. What does it take to get this through your obviously thick skull?

90% of racers are there for fun,.... some are just failed production car drivers.![]()

I agree with you 100%, and thats why i was so pissed with the average effort of the spagma driver. He had no reason to mess up his or my race. we are not even in the same freekin class. Thats all there is to it.Originally Posted by indigoid

If in doubt power out
I was just looking on the IPRA website and if you want something straight out already done and want to stick with Toyota, why not something like this:
http://www.techmasters.com.au/forum/...d0d4f1c69f95ca
1984 AE86 (mountain and track car)...work in progress4agz(t)e HKS GT2540, W58, F series diff, 3.5"driveshaft, intercooler done.
Motor built... now the exhaust manifold...woo tuned length baby!!
Coilovers all round 6 pt cage fr & rr strut brace/b-pillar brace 15*8's -9..the lot
^^^^^ thats a sports sedan mate, but non the less they do make good IP cars the early rolla. I rekon the RT142 Rona is a good thing , decent track, lightweight and could fit some nice 16in wheels and big brakes to suit under it with minimal flaring, 3sgte,w and f series irs would be a good thing. A guy in NSW runs 1 with a 3s and he had to add ballast to get the required weight( he runs it as a L.M). if you build it as a EM no weight limit FTW.
I'm with charged the Rona, like I said before nice and cheap and plenty of engine bay to work with (OK not that great a looking car). For most of us IPRA is about affordabilty and U-Pull-it have plenty of them.
Cheers Dave
This has been a largely informative read. Thanks to those who linked IPRA info (rep). I've been contemplating building up my old RA40 for improved production racing, but all this info has really got me thinking. I'm going to have a decent read of the IPRA rules and work things out from there.
The corona sounds like a good one for sticking to Toyotas, though I'm not totally convinced about a north/south 3SGTE given it's a motor designed for fwd. Bluebird + mild SR20DET would also be interesting...

that's very flattering but no thanks.Originally Posted by H1TMAN

Dave runs a dry sumped 3sgte, its a expensive way to go. My 2 nephews have campaigned 3sgte with mods to sump and some external return lines from the head to the sump and have had no problems with oil starvation. The 3sgte put out very competitive horsepower compared to the other 2litre turbos. The corona sounds like a good one for sticking to Toyotas, though I'm not totally convinced about a north/south 3SGTE given it's a motor designed for fwd.
The bluebird is a good thing also, cheap to buy, plenty of go faster gear for the SR, not sure about mild... the restricted motor needs plenty of boost at the lowest possible rpm to create plenty of torque, the HP party stops at about 6grandBluebird + mild SR20DET would also be interesting...![]()
heres a vid of the nephews car from this year, he dnf the race before came from rear of grid to 3rd place.
