    wow, that is good quality.

what gun was used and what type of paint?

can i finish like that be gained from acrylic at home with enough practice?

ive got a corolla to paint, and its gotta be good, gotta match the power its gonna be making but im spending all my money on the motor, no 5-10K left over for paying someone to paint it.

i know a painter who can get me all the stuff i need, im either going ford citric acid, or gloss black, havnt decided yet, and was wondering what the pros and cons of each colour are going to be?

im going to do everything i possibly can to make the panels straight as possible, i actually did all the prep on a guard and had it looking spot on, but ended up selling it, so i dindt get to finish the paint on it lol.

    cheers, andrew

Black will show up everything. You can buy iso-cyanate free 2 pak paints, they will give a better more durable result than acrylic

black shows up everything, but how hard is the citric acid gonna be to spray? it seems from looking at google pictures that if its sprayed or mixed wrong it turns out way to green, dunno if thats too many coats or what, but im worried about that, at least black, once its black, is black...

    cheers

    wh
at gun was used and what type of paint?
if your refering to the blue mx73 it was painted in PPG deltron base with PPG delfleet clear. now i went for the delfleet clear cuz it was alot cheaper than the deltron cuz its designd for trucks and buses so it just dosnt flow out as good.but all up it cost me bout a grand to spary that.

the gun is a Devilbiss HVLP GTI

DONT spray it black trust me unless the panel work is perfect "itll look good from far but far from good"

is the green a metalic or a solid?

    its that colour.

    how hard would that be?

i know what your saying about the body work, but i reckon with enough persistance surely you can get it straight, seeings as theres no rust repair to be done, just a couple of scrapes and dents...

are they 2pac or acrylic paints?

Fraud uses a 2-pak for that green. If your doing a metallic, you will need a clear-over-base system to do it properly, in which case you should use 2-pak for your clear, as it is much tougher and will keep you from having to spray again for quite some time. Keeping the clear from getting runs can be tough, but I managed it on my YZF600's fibreglass fairings.

in the pic it looks like a solid colour but it can be hard to tell.if it is a solid then it should be as easy to spray as any other solid colours.

are they 2pac or acrylic paints?
oh sorry, should of said there 2 pack.you will never get a long term good finish with acrylic paints but after saying that they are ALOT cheaper to play and hav fun with

as i said before the materials cost was about a $1000 trade price and that was because a used the cheaper clear and primer.

now to get a car sprayed at the same level as the cress youd probly want to allow um maybe 5k but to be honest i havent realy lookd in to it much for obvious reasons

    Hi,

I did repairs/primer on my car this weekend with a cheap workquip 1.4/1.8 mm gravity gun, but want to upgrade to do the colour this weekend. Will be spraying 2K so i'm looking for a 1.2-1.4 range gun that is decent - i'm not worried about name brand but it must spray well - particularly on large flat areas (like rooftops) where my current gun falls down.

Would look at spending up to about $400 - so if anyone has a gun like this could you let me know what it is and where you got it - or if you have opinions on a good gun to go for based on personal experience.

    Thanks.

    hi camshere
probably the best place to buy a decent gun, would be from a supplier to the panel industry
have a look in your directory under panel beating spray painting suppliers, they will sell direct especially for cash , see if a rep can call out to see you ,and help you with your choice , you will also be able to get good quality primer and paint from them at trade prices as well , also play two companys off against each other , coz as it is early in the year the supplier will be keen to get some cash flow happening after the christmas break

PS i use an optima brand , i have not found better yet , devilleblissis another brand that has a good name , but that depends on the model that you choose
