Tuned yes. I've never drifted the car, so that bit wasn't me

I've got the changes I requested from Andy, never saw fit to use the closed loop boost control when the eBoost2 was already there and doing an almighty job.

Im just using a profec b spec II and couldn't be happier with it.

Not as pricey, simple to install, tune and use, small (as opposed to eboost, EVC and AVCR) meaning i could put it in the dash where the clock used to me and not have another guage or screen in my face.

controls boost really well (ive had spiking and boost creep dramas before)

Ide rather a stand alone unit insted of say the Power FC boost controller, but its handy if you every want to put it in another car or run the stock ecu with high boost still. And i find i dont need the other functions the other brands give, as an aftermarket ecu does them anyway.

I did have a Profec A previously and ide say its better then that.

    Nope.
AFAIK the AVCR can also be set in open loop mode, such that you can set the duty cycle dependant on RPM.

It's only closed loop if it bothers to monitor the boost pressure and adjust dependant on if above/below set pressure.

I understand what closed loop control is, i just thought that any kind of electronic boost control ran off some kind of feedback function from manifold or pre-intercooler pressure. You learn something every day!

What is the benifit of an Electronic boost controller at all if it's running open loop?, wouldn't it then suffer many of the problems that "boost taps" are often prone to when running considerable amounts of boost above the wastegate spring's setting?

By problems i mean Creep, dropping off etc

You can still tune out the spike and the dropping off with an open loop one, they just can't respond to atmospherical changes.

    You got it.
    They do have problems.

But, you can set up a "map" so that they'll start to let the wastegate see pressure long before a mechanical tee would (Dependant on how the tee is setup)

When we ran a mates in open loop mode, we had it tuned to NOT spike.
But a major issue we did have was that on the freeway, it would take forever to get on boost compared to if cracked at like 1000RPM in first due to the fact that the wastegate was creeping open.

When in closed loop mode, boost came on so much quicker as no creep really.

I have a Blitz Dual SBC Spec S...I'd like the Spec R but the S is OK. Holds boost nice and flat, and I can control how hard it comes on boost also (set it too hard and it spikes though).
Picked it up for $250 2ndhand, but it had never been used/installed before. Bargain
Good being able to pick between 10psi stock, 15psi daily, or 18/20psi race (or whenever I put octane booster in). As simple as turning a knob to pick between each of the 4 boost settings I programmed in

eBoost 2 always seems to get good reports, I couldn't justify the money personally, but if you are getting pretty serious, and buying a big single etc, then go nuts

I'm gonna start looking around at EBC too.
I hear GIZMO is best bang for buck. dunno if anyone has had one on a 7MGTE?.. or the fact that I have a standard 7MGTE ECU have any factor on which EBC works?..

Nathan - does the eBoost have multiple boost settings like the GIZMO ?
and what did you pay for yours?

1JZ.747 - can you hook up a eBoost group buy/discount??

Yep, the Gizzmo had 4 (?) settings and the eBoost2 has 6 (?). To be honest, I had every intention of using them too, but I just drive with 18psi all the time. My Gizzmo cost $400 at the time, my eBoost2 was $650 or thereabouts.

The RRP was like $799 when I got mine, dude at Motoquipe in Floreat said he could get it for $649 but didn't have any in stock. I went into the Motoquipe Whitfords store and bargained the guy there to $649 when he'd told me $699 over the phone.
