    Drivers side strut top.

It's a brownish sorta colour, and it's bolted to a resistor, which, I'm 99% sure is the resistor for the FP

is that the one there? with the resistor?

damn, i ruled them out cos the wiring colours differed from my wiring diagram. oh well.

    thanks for that guys!

    That's the one!

The bit with the fins is the resistor of course and the other part is the relay

Wiring diagram colours are usually little help! They always seem to be different!

so should i be mounting the high pressure pump in the engine bay then?

Wha? What does that have to do with this conversation?! lol

I don't see why you'd want to do that....

High pressure pumps generally don't like sucking, that is why they are mounted near the tank...

The fuel pump resistor is well different to the fuel pump, my guess as to why it is in the engine bay is that its an easy spot for it!

Main connections to the fuel pump resistor are:
    *Fuel pump
    *Battery via COR
    *ECU Trigger (low / high)

If the fuel pump resistor was at the pump then the battery and ECU trigger wires would have to be longer....and that'd be silly! So I guess they put it as close to the battery as was easy

Edit: Meh it has to double back from the COR, but to me it'd make more sense if the COR was in the engine bay with the other relays!

I've no idea what conversion you're doing, it was never mentioned, but what is wrong with leaving the fuel pump in the tank as it is from factory?

    Cheers

That relay also powers the AFM, oxygen sensor, IAC, and FPU.
That's why it's in the engine bay.

    thanks for the confirmation

i wouldve thought a better location for it would be next to the circuit opening relay tho....

ahh so is it a bad idea to put it under the dash somewhere in the ra23? Thats where i was thinkin of putting it, i didnt know it heated up but that explains the hardcore looking resistor

and no the fpr doesnt power those things kyosho....

kyosho might have got confused with the Main EFI Relay?...

As for heat, lets say the Fuel pump draws 6A at 12V (the resistance of the fuel pump is 2Ohms... in this example... )

Now when we add the fuel pump resistor inline we get a total resistance of 2.7Ohms -> 4.44A now, and we have 4.44A * 4.44A * 0.7Ohms = 13W (P=I^2 R) of power being dissipated in the resistor...

13W might not sound like that much, but meh

    Cheers
