    Default I.D this 4AGE.

    Hey Hey,

I picked up a bare 4age today. The previous owner said it was a from a Ae86, So it got me thinking is it a rwd bigport motor or is it a ae82 bigport turned rwd. I bought it as just a 4AGE bigport so i have no idea other than it has been rwd in its life as it has a spigot bearing and its old and doesn't want to come out.

    Picture time.

yeah 7 rib block, do you want to know if it has been in a sprinter or if it was in one from the factory? if you dont have inlet manifold, water fitting etc then why does it matter?

by the way, the cam covers are on the wrong sides

    EDIT:

looks like a bigport head to me

No manifold or water fitting, I know about the cam covers and will rectify it one day

So 7 rib bigport it is, I will look for oil squirter's when i get it on the engine stand or maybe tomorrow when i want to get my hands dirty.

Do rwd 4age blocks have the front engine mounts holes like ae82 blocks have ?

So since its a 7 rib block it wont be an original Ae86 motor as they are 3 rib ?

Any way of telling if its a Ae92 block with a bigport head or FXGT motor ?

    does it make any difference?
all you need to know is number of ribs, size of bearings, big/little port, which pistons....

it also could be a AW11 block, as they were 7-rib. Note that no factory Bigport head block had any oil squirters.
