much better than a fork design thow.
Correct it does look neat, and the Toyota bellhousing is a lot neater than the aftermarket ones!

Yes, T56 in the V8 and some sort of Aisin-Warner box in the V6. I don't think the TKO boxes are used in any OEM applications, they're designed for racing.

TKO in HSV's, been used for many years now. They are the new chev used box, not racing, corvette, camaro etc. They are a hugely mass production box.

I'd like to know where you got your information from, because it's whack. They've been using Tremec T56's for a while and don't look like changing. If you can show me some information to prove otherwise, by all means, I'll retract my statement. Until then, I call BS.

Oh, one thing I forgot to add, lets ignore the fact TKO boxes are only 5-speed.

Dude, TKO boxes are 5-speed. When's the last time HSV's had a 5-speed box?

Also the TKO series was only released in 2004 so I don't know how they've been used for "many years".

Gone way OT but like was said (or didn't i?)...some t56's hold the power, others go boom for no apparent reason.

There were 2 versions.... slightly different ratio's. The run of the mill Holden and the HSV. The HSV's had slightly lower ratio's (can't remember where i read that though)..... These are just the ones in Australia. Chev and other GM manufacturers have been using the tremec T5 and T56's for decades.

Back ON topic, the Thor Racing Kit does not include bellhousing. I think it is just the adaptor and hydraulic throwout bearing.... very pretty though.

Well i for one can't praise the TKO600 enough. As good as twice as strong as the V160 getrag and shift quality is as good as any W58 i've ever driven. Not hard to find pretty cheap from the US as this is the box used in a few OEM applications over there.

This is THE manual box if you are planning big hp

By comparison what about a quaiffe dog gearset for a w5x, Probably about the same price as the box landed, plenty to go around, no tunnel mods (from what you've already done and bellhousings to suit.

i think physical size may play a part... i doubt there are any w5x gearsets that will take more torque than a tko600 in standard form as it is. Quite a few supra guys have smashed aftermarket gearsets in w58's without too much power (>300rwkw) from jz motors....

as for price, i think you'd have trouble finding gearsets for w5x for less than 3k landed....

I have to agree with Justen, this is the only option for big HP before you start spending 5 figures on Hollingers and such.

LOL @ W58 surviving behind a TT V12. Even if you made the whole thing out of unobtanium it's still going to pop - the bearings, gears and shafts simply aren't large enough.

The only options IMO are V160 or TKO - but given the amount of torque this thing will generate I don't think I'd trust the mighty V160. Given the plug-and-play option presented in this thread, the TKO is a no-brainer.
