more like fe..... damn heads are fairly narrow..... and i'm loving the 60 degree V. Not much wider than a 2j with manifolds.... easily beats 1uz....

i recall reading (can't remember where though) about it being able to run on 1 bank so i would also assume it's like limp mode.

Nope, they're specifically designed to be completely separate. It's just like a redundant failover cluster, one server can fall over without taking out the other one.

I'm assuming for this to work correctly there'd have to be separate sensors for each ECU but I haven't looked that closely into it. However I have seen the ECU/wiring info in the TSRM and there appear to be no shared links.

i think ultimately, this will come down to price.... The sm4 is a good unit and has produced heaps of good cars out there... the motec speaks for itself... the haltech, well, enough people use it with good results and the support is pretty good too....

I think it should come down to a combination of price AND what your tuner is most comfortable with using to get the best out of your engine.

If Dave is your tuner, then talk to Dave and see what he recommends. If MRT is your tuner, talk to MRT and see what they recommend.

For me, its down to the tuner, then price.
    ...... butt scratcher?!

SAS is autronic, MRT is motec and JEM is haltech... all good reputable places with excellent tuners. Will call them during lunch

and if the autronic tuner has 4 hands for operating the ecus at the same time

personally id go dual sm4's but that my personal opinion, motec is good but i can show you there problems also, wouldnt use a haltech but once again thats just me.

there are some pros and cons to every ecu but it all comes down to dollars and what you want out of it as to what suits you.

i had a stinger running my corolla with good results but the only reason i used it was bcoz i sold the customer i got it off an sm4 and then it was just sitting around here.

    cheers

Actually you'd only have to tune the one ECU and leave the other one shut off. Then copy the map/settings to the second ECU and hey presto, both banks are tuned.

i know that, it was more of a joke.
the good thing with ve based stuff is that its easy as to get them to run, for instance if you had an n/a car (i wouldn't try with fi) you can just set all the ve numbers to say 80 and it will still start drive and do pretty much everything you want it to do.

so you wouldnt even shut 1 bank down just leave it with a base and tune the other bank and transfer the maps every 15mins to be a bit nicer (or swap between the 2 every time you transfer it).

    cheers

Spoke to MRT today.... ballpark of around 6k for the hardware not including wiring and tuning.
Haltech said that they can't support vvti yet (still in testing) and have been working on some software to run 12x sequential injection. Either way, 2 units will cost around the 5k mark with all the necessary hardware to get it working.

Didn't have time to call SAS.... will do so tomorrow.

I think i'm back to either the sm4 or m800 still.

looks like a m800 with ign expander for you tan
use 8 injectors and 4 ign drivers for the injector side of things and the expander for the 12 spark plugs
