nope, the rear end is different to the soarer.... the tank IS offset towards the driver's side.
dual exhausts have been done but at always the cost of a custom fuel tank.
i looked into it myself and may still go that way one day.
Hey guys,
Is there room underneath (particularly at the back I guess I'm asking) to fit a dual exhaust to a JZA80 Supra, like there is with a UZZ30 Soarer? If not, is it just because the fuel tank is offset?
I've been trawling the net looking for underbody pics to check, I've tried seeding Google with the keywords "underbody", "fuel tank" and "diff" but not getting anywhere.
I figure someone here will have first hand knowledge.
Cheers,
Nathan

Is there any room to say, mount the muffler a bit further upstream and then just route a pipe? i.e. what you see with some of the American cars?

There was a lot of discussion on this topic over at supraforums. The answer is no, it can't be done at all unless you remove the stock tank and replace it with some sort of custom arrangement. That sure is a lot of effort for a pointless mod.![]()

You don't happen to have a link do ya Norbs? I've not really hung around on Supraforums.
Pointless is a relative word. There is something about the exhausts on CrUZ's UZZ10 that make you tingle.

Oh, and while I agree it would be pointless on a 2JZ-equipped one, twin exhausts do make sense on a 1UZ.

Clicky-clicky
Justen's 1UZ is plenty tingly with just one pipe. I maintain it is pointless, beyond the rice factor of course.

I dunno. I've always liked the idea of having twin exhaust, and an exhaust valve, so that you can run a smallsih exhaust which is heavily muffled, and then flick a switch to open up the second exhaust and get more power... for when you're on the track obviously.Originally Posted by JustCallMeOrlando

I read that, and aside from re-affirming why I don't venture there much, it seems focussed around xA70's. I want to know if there is room for a 2.5" pipe to snake around the fuel tank, so I could mount the muffler more inboard.
If it doesn't work out, it doesn't, I'm not going to get a custom fuel tank to facilitate it, but if it can be done in some manner, then I'll probably do it.

Funny you should say that NimAlthough my thinking is more some central mufflers which are bypassed under WOT.

Maybe you could pop your head under the car and answer the question for all of us?Originally Posted by JustCallMeOrlando

That would require actually having a JZA80 sitting in the driveway. Considering I'm sitting at home sick, bored out of my brain I thought I'd do some research!![]()

Next time I get my car on a hoist I'll grab you some pics Frank.
That'd be tops. I understand for certain a pair of twin mufflers out the back is out of the question, but if there is room for just a pipe I may be in luck.

Nathan
