Are you serious? Wonder if that extrapolates to wiring too - big budget build, might wanna make sure you get the appropriate wiring for the "system"

So could one extrapolate that a 1UZ could go from 204 to 262 just from throttles?
    Is it even likely?

I gained maybe 20hp from the quads on the 4AGE. If that, and most of it was probably from the A/M ECU.

    mos, you ARE the wiring

and glen - i never got an ecu with the engine
that said, anyone got a stock 1uz ecu (dead even) they want to offload?

mandatory on-topic post: mos, i highly doubt the itbs would make much difference on your engine

what eds trying to say in his first post is to do it all in one hit, but probly itb's as i dont think quads on a 1u woulde be all that easy to do and probly a waste of time.

    cheers

if the manifolds are not a restriction, then ITB's won't help...

for some engines, if the intake is a major restriction,. ITB's help..

what many people do is try to chase the biggest restriction, and improve on that a bit at a time....ie, step one restriction up, then step up another one, and keep chasing your tail trying to up the power..

instead of getting rid of them all and doing it in one go

Say you don't have like $3K just sitting around you could still get a set of extractors and put them on then in about a month or two set up some ITB's then later put some cams in and then after that buy an ECU and get it tuned up.

why does it have to be all in one go? As long as you plan to do it all eventually.....

Because you'll never fully realise the potential of any of the mods until you have all the components they need to work. That's ignoring the fact changing cams and ITB's is going to drastically change the fuelling and sensoring of the engine, meaning it's not going to be a safe thing to run at all.

stewy - i think the very concept of a 'restriction' is wrong though

unless you have one specific component that is bluntly inadequate because of some emissions or manufacturing process etc. to chase one 'bottle neck' after the other isnt rational, nor is it paying attention to the functioning system.

the only way id agree with your strategy stu, is if one were to take a part that was wholly inadequte for the engines design (as stated above) and replace it with the part the engine 'should have'. not to overstep it, and 'upgrade' that part to a higher level of function, as that can be just as useless as the underperforming part. i think mos' engine is a good example. its all 'just right'

i know im taking the hard line, but im trying to make a point
