in reguards to 0 boost. where are you yeading this from?
well my st185 gt4 grp A broke down the other day, the ignitor coil cooked itself, SO i replaced that with a brand newy. got the car going again.
NOW its driving, but it cannot make a drop of boost since this breakdown ?
i have - reset the computer, bypassed the aftermarket boost controller (to see if that was the cause) , checked all the vac lines, all seem to be connected ok.
SO....... what is it ???
the car accelerates, then when boost is supposed to come on it doesnt, then when you revv it hard, it gets to about 5500rpm and starts hestitating and backing off the throttle and then trying to get back on it ? (stock computer) (not hitting limiter - not the same feeling) it is simply making 0psi according to the gauge, and the controller makes a consistent 0.12bar of boost !
HELP REALLY NEEDED .........
thanks in advance. nick.

A - you can feel it (drives like shit)
B - both the gauge and the boost controller are giving readings of next to 0 (gauge=0psi, controller 0.12bar)
car also sounds different obviously, turbo isnt making any spooling noises or shifting noises. really weird.

umm... take off dump pipe and check the turbine wheel is still there...

Have you checked for a boost leak?
Does the turbo make the right noises? Or a large weasing noise?

Also mybe first check for any intake tubing problems, do you have the frount mount?

yer , story of when it broke down - it was driving normally, i was cruising down the street at 60km/h and it died, has been unhappy ever since.
yer the front mount is still attached, nutting has been fiddled with in that regard, i have looked and double looked in the area i was fiddling with to make sure no hoses were pulled off,
however it does seem to be making a very quiet air-leaking sound near the brake master cylinder ( could be totally unrelated - sounds soo minor, not like a major leak to prevent it from boosting at all) doesnt make the usual turbo noise, as its not coming on, but when you hit high rpm and it struggles, it makes a funny lil chirp noise, sounding like the turbo momentarily spins for like a millisecond or something
see the thing is the car idles fine also.
i pulled off the AFM, to check that (thought it may have been it) - and spun the turbine, moved freely as usual.
so i dono !

The air leaking at the back could be the tubbing to the ecu boost guage on the back firewall. I know any boost leak will make my gt4 idle like crap and think it did stall once.

air round leak/noise round the booster is normal, (as its vacuum assisted)...
check all cooler pipes, for cracks, splits, cut hoses.....
sounds like the turbo is cactus, pull of the air intake to the turbo, see if it spins freely and easily, if it spins nicely pull of the dumop pipe and inspect the rear wheel also,
blake
yer front spins nicely . turbo was fine prior to coil shorting, shouldnt be stuffed ( better not be)
yer the ecu boost gauge should be removed if it has a aftermarket controller yer ?
mmmmmmmm

agreed sounds turbo related.
high revs demand higher volume of air and if the turbo isnt spinning you effectively choking the motor hence the running rough up there.
the small spin sound is prob the higher levels of exhaust gas forcing the blade to spin momentarily.

Did you check plugs after the coild died? running with less than ideal spark could foul the plugs?
are you still running the emanage?
How did you bypass the boost controller?

PS on a stock gt4 grpA you should hear almost no induction/turbo noise at all... I don't and only ever have when I have had problems...

is the turbine/impeller spinning ok?
GA23(never finished-now with cracked block) JZX83 (Tyre eater) 3sgte AE86. by now i should know better.
you shouldn't have touched the std boost sensor. all it does is read the boost for the dash display and Fuel cut. it isn't used in the engine tunning at all. so unless your running >16psi it should still be there.Originally Posted by GBC_069
all an aftermarket boost controller requires is for the solenoid to be put into the wastegate boost signal/tubing and to block the TVSV. a quick bit of googling will show how.
any ecu error codes? other than your favourite 54
