no it can't
Does anyone know the working range of a bigport 4age map sensor. I need to know if it can read positive pressure or not.
thanks
no it can't
For obvious reasons! Why spend another hundred thousand having it tuned{read} boost when it is always going to be a factory atmo engine. The same as getting a turbo factory engine and just running it atmo, its always going to be rich!
some MAP sensors are not just 0-100kpa, from memory some of the Bosch(?) ones are 200 or 250kps absolute, and so they can read boost. of course the ECU is probably not tuned for it,but that goes without saying
if you want a simple way to do it, get a motorola MPX4250AP (iirc) as they can do 1.5 bar boost, is a ported package and are quite cheap for new ones. They also have a known output curve.

electrically they just need ground and a 5V input .. and are US$15 (as a guide for aussie price... maybe $30 locally from R$ or farnell?)
\/\/\/ most should be 0 at minimum vacuum and maximum voltage at maximum pressure... good idea for testing it(not all are 0-5V tho

A simple check would be to wire up ground and 5V and see what output voltage you get when it sees atmospheric. If output is 5V (or maybe 0V, I have never known) then it can't sense boost.
If it's mid-range then you can mess around blowing down a piece of hose connected to it to see if you can get the reading to change.

I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.
