    Default Problem with forum.

I PM'ed a Mod about this a while ago but haven't had a reply so thought I would start a thread.
I use IE7 and have been having a problem when I view the forums which doesn't seem to happen on other sites.
Basically what it is , when I view the forums I open new pages in tabs (a feature of IE7) which I find very easy and convenient. For example, if I'm looking at the tech and conversion section, I have the index page open in the first tab and open the threads in tabs so that when I have read the thread I just close the tab and I'm back where I was on the index page and can find the next thread I want to read. I was finding that sometimes when I was looking at threads, the index page would go to an ad from a web site called http://ad.yieldmanager.com. It is a different ad every time and I have a copy of all the links if it would help.
When it happens I go back to the tab, click the back button and it goes back to toymods.
Recently I have noticed it mainly happens when I open an image shack page.
I mainly wanted to know if the problem was a forum issue or a problem with my computer.
I run an up to date virus program and scan the computer weekly and haven't found anything wrong. Is anyone else experiencing this or is it just me. Any idea how I can stop it happening as it is pretty annoying.

That is a pop-up from the imageshack site. im using firefox and it just comes up as a new window. ( i dont use the tabs i think they are annoying)

So its just a pop-up add which probably is taking over the main tab.

I don't have a problem when I'm opening tabs on toymods, only when I open a tab on image shack. If some one on here links to a pic on image shack, when I open that link in a new tab, it changes the toymods page in the first tab I have open to the ad. Hope this makes sense.

That makes sense, but how do I stop it from taking over the main tab.

    Try holding shift+clicking the link

I think that opens a new window. Dont know if it will stop it though.

    BradW,

You have Adware on your computer!

This is what's causing the random ad to popup... Also, your Virus program will not pick this up...

My suggestion would be to download AdAware (free) and use this to remove the ads...

Imageshack always has pop ups unless you're logged in. My advice is to register and then as long as you are logged in (eg cookie is not deleted) then you won't get the pop ups.

twentyEight: sure, he probably does have Adware on his computer, but its not what is causing the issue.

The problem is how IE7 interprets background launched non-modal windows. It interprets them as launching in the initial tab rather than in a new window.
Either get a real browser (www.firefox.com) or just ignore it.

I have none of these problems with IE as my browser.

So lets get this straight so I can get an understanding of the issue.

1 You click on a link to image shack to open that link in a new tab
2 The new tab opens and the image is displayed
3 You go back to the original tab and the Toymods site is no longer displayed it instead displays an ad

I have tried to repro this but I can't.

If I middle mouse button click on this image below it opens in a new tab and the Toyomods site remains in my original tab.

Also depends if you have a popup blocker on.

Ok, if I middle mouse click on the image and then veiw the tab that opens while it is loading, the main tab (toymods page) changes to the ad.
It also happens if I open the link in a new window. I have a pop up blocker turned on.
I will try the adaware thing anyway. I suppose it can't make it worse, can it?

ive been having the same issue recently, only the ad would open in a new window. this inspired me to get around to trying to remove it.
ran an ad-aware scan. no more pop-up. so it seems the adware is what is causing the issue.
    theres your solution

I downloaded ad aware and ran a scan. It found 3 things which it removed but the problem is still there. Thanks to everyone for the ideas, keep them coming.
BTW, I know firefox and mozilla and all those other web browsers are much better than internet explorer, but I'm happy with it and I'll keep using it as this is the only problem I have had with it.
