    Default help / mx83 / 2jz / cruise control *now fixed*

hey i have this mx83 cressida with a 2jz in it, and the cruise control doesnt work anymore.

i know southo has his fixed but the asshole that fixed it is only interested in financial reward to part with the solution (hardly the toymods way is it?)

anyway i took it to toyota today and pade them muny!! (dont neg rep me) to get it fixed, Unfortunately i was short on time and they wanted the car for a few hours to fix it, but in the time they had the 'toyota technician' reckons that the TRANSMISSION COMPUTER isnt talking to the ENGINE COMPUTER!! even tohugh i thought they were one and the same box.

also with the 2jz auto conversion one of the speed sensors is missing and you get that o/d light flashing, but a 1jz>mx83 conversion seems to have this same fault and cruise control works fine.

also my tacho isnt hooked up but im sure cruise control doesnt need a tacho signal.

any ideas what i need to do to get cruise control working? it turns on ok (dash light) but wont allow me to set the speed...

He has a 1uz in a mx83 but i think it was a similar fix

Both Ghostrider and I had ours done at the same time (yes, mine is 2J, his is 1UZ)

I wish I could tell you exactly what was done. but I honestly have no idea.. he was under the dash for a few minutes only, and it was done..

Afterwards, I pointed Mos in the general area that he was woirking on and Mos said "ahhh I think I know what it was" - but he never had a look..

I'll be watching with interest, I assume the MX83 has a vacuum-operated cruise module like my MA61?

From that diagram it indicates that it requires a SPD sensor from the ECU. And also the SP2 sensor from the gearbox (G-W SP2 in 2nd diagram)

Now, im guessing that the SP2 sensor isnt hooked up, and hence its not working.

^ yes thats what i reckon too, but i thought it was SP1 that i was missing Mos's wiring kept everything else working. but i could be wrong it might be sp2 i am missing.

btw where is the cruise control ecu located?

My cruise works, car uses the 7M cruise control module though. Only have 1 speed sensor hooked up (dash I think). Unfortunately I can't tell you how, as the car came with the 1JZ already fitted and cruise working. Scrote (prev owner), Mos, or Sideshow might be able to help you out.

Interesting, I've noticed several mentions of people having issues with their MX83 cruise control, but I never had any problem with mine. I'm running a 1UZ, auto, and Motec.

Aye, you are probably just feeding it the correct signals.

Are the SP1 and SP2 signals the same signal? As in, at say, 60km/h, is the voltage/pulse the same on SP1 and SP2?

If it was the same, couldn't you just feed the signal you have (SP1?) into both inputs on the Cruise ECU?

Heh, its not SP1. Much simpler than that.

Infact im not sure why PJ isnt posting it, but ill let him decide on that front.
