as for maximum camber adjustment... LOL... obviously knows his jza80's. i dare anyone to dial in camber on a dual A arm assembly with a shock strut![]()
Thanks for the heads up Matt, those prices are very reasonable! They even go on the maybe list.
They also stock the Tein Flex suspension which the guy from WA Suspensions said about as well. They sit in between the Super Street and the Mono Flex.
This was his description:
"Tein Type Flex. These have firmer spring rates and more aggressive valving in the shock absorbers. They come with Adjustable top mounts for maximum camber adjustment. Again, they are height and valve adjustable. These are not as nice on the street as they are slightly more track orientated. Cost of this kit is $2650 ex japan Mid October. (EDFC Compatible)"

I know, I take everything I read with a pinch of salt. That said, they do seem like a good compromise personally. Stiffer than the Super Streets, yet cheaper than the Mono Flex. Compromise is everything, it's all well and good for me to say I want maximum track attack, but 99% of my driving will be around town.

I'm sure I can nab a drive of a car with Super Streets, the dude from WA Suspensions has an R33 equipped with them, I'm not sure I have anyone I know with a JZA80 with Super Streets.

I'm going to go for a drive in a Super Street equipped car, that said, the WA govt. has sort of forced my hand. Looks like the part Linden was mentioning will cause me issues in my crusade for legality.
"The Super Street will pass licensing no problems. The Mono Flex, or Type Flex will not get approval for road use. The reason for this is the Flex kits have spring seat adjustability as well as adjustable cleat brackets. No kit on the market with adjustable cleat brackets will get approved whether it be Tein, D2, Hot Bits, HKS etc etc. Just food for thought for you."
I think I'll probably end up using the Super Street as my base, and work from there if I'm happy with them after the test drive.

I have the tien SS with EDFC on my GT4 and I have been really happy with them. I know they might be different for the Supra but I assume Tien would have tried to set them up for a similar market.
When I first drove on them I was a little worried that they may be a little too soft. However I have found that in dry conditions the damping may be a little too stiff as it can just make the tyres slide over the surface. When I backed off the damping (with the EDFC) and went back through the same road again and I found there was more grip there. This is even more pronounced in the wet. Maybe there is something else in the setup influencing this effect, I'm not sure. I'm going to wakefield with them next Friday so well see what they are like on the track.
You do tend to jiggle around quite a bit on the hardest setting, however on the softest it is an enjoyable ride even on eastern Sydney's 200 year old roads.
If your after the ability to adjust both damping and the rebound independently then the tien ss wont give you that. the adjustment is only on the damping force. The softest setting gives equal damping to rebound. the hardest setting increases the damping force while leaving the rebound the same.

I spoke to the dude from WA Suspensions so I've got prices for revalving them and new springs should down the track I want to modify them.

Random dilemma. Ordered coilovers yesterday through Perfect Run. TEIN have gotten back to them saying they're not sure the GST60-B1SS3 Super Streets I selected are compatible with the SZ because they've never tested them, only on an RZ.
Are they any differences I should be aware of or are they just being careful?
Teh UZA80 - Project Century - Remotely p00'd by association
nope, should fit both.... There should be no differences at all....
I think they're worried about TEMS... something i'm sure you don't have....
after all the initial debate, I can now say the mono-flex are quite streetable. on really shithouse roads it's not pleasant, but oin your average, moderately shithouse sydney road it's completely bearable.
Haha, had they been legal here I may have actually picked them, I always take marketing spiel with a pinch of salt, but alas Super Streets were the only legal TEIN option for me. If they require a little revalving or high spring rates down the track so be it.
