not least because you ask if a jz will fit in a ta22, a question which has been covered eleventy billion times

back to being nice, I have to say SR20 makes the most sense by far. a late model one if you can, they have a very nice turbo from the factory, and will push up well over 150rwkw without troubles, which is bags of fun in a little ta22!

Ah, the old bigger is better thing eh?

Id have to agree with Draven, sorta...If you chuck a v6, 1GZ etc into a ta22, sure it'll be awesome in a straight line and do nice skidz (and have wow factor), but come to a corner and it'll understeer like a boat, not to mention cost of half cut, engineering etc
Any well tuned four cylinder (sr20det, 4agte, 3t-gte), mounted as far back in the engine bay will give plenty of power and great handling. If your going for left of field, have you considered the f20c, we know that fits

it is , however your car, and you may defile it in any way you see fit...

the 1mz v6 is SHORTER and the same weight as a 3sgte (some say less) and being NA would be easier to drive than a turbo motor, so setting it up would be easier and it would probly be quicker around a track in inexperieced hands as its more forgiving.
throw some ITBs on it and it would be awsome, the noise would be pure PORN esp if you got a vvti 1.

Linden, one small issue with RWD setup with 1MZ - there is nowhere to front mount the starter motor. I'm getting one this weekend so I hope I can see where the block can be "machined" to make it work with my adaptor ring.

I'll be setting up some cross ram ITBs on the thing.

    hmmms
    i started to put a 1G into my TA22.
with the back of the 1G hard against the firewall the front snout of the crank rested on the rail underneathe the radiator. and thats before the pulley was on there!
also the twins didn't fit with the steering box so that has to go.
i did have a holden v6 with supra 5 speed bolted to it which actually fitted quite well. the problem is the motor is very very heavy for the front of the celica which, if you want handling isn't alot of fun for you.

well hey, if you want to displace all the nicities, i will to, as much as the toymods search engine sucks for searching for anything more in depth than one word, your reading seems much the same, as i clearly stated, several times (even when directly asked) why i would be running a non turbo motor.

    but hey, whos counting right?

anyway, sorted it out today, its getting the SR over the CA.

car got delivered today, and for the speed of getting it up and running, it'll be copping a satin black engine bay, so i can get the car driving, while the rest of the car cops a spray job in a yet unknown colour. that way i can paint the bay while motors still out.

not sure if you have seen this. But im sure this method could be adapted to the TA22.

    - Cut hole in firewall
    - Cut trans tunnel out
    - Put steel box in firewall hole
    - Weld in Supra trans tunnel

May need to do a R&P conversion for the sump etc to fit. And mounts im sure Matty could do for you.

But then you get a 1UZ that's sitting far enough back to theoretically not hinder your handling.

Here is a pic that i received sometime back... not sure were from... but a 2vzfe in a TA22 chassis.

I actually bought this car, it was really well done, up until we ripped out the old camry 2vz. 2vzfe v6 motor with w58 strapped to her, she would have gone like a damn pocket rocket
