The ca18det is a good cheap little motor, often overlooked because of its bigger brother because of size, but a good performer nonetheless..

My reasons for making a blasphemous machine stemmed from takumi tax, the need for a half decent box and the added expense of custom bellhousings and shit, while the s13 box will do the job fine at only $250-300 a pop

found a website on the KE20 series corolla...i know its a different, smaller chassis, but thought the examples of what engines you could fit into a small engine would be of some use....ever thought of going Rotor? 13BT

i think the best option is F20C

ive found that it depends who you ask.

as all motors nowadays, if your going to mod it, its stupid to not pull it apart and give it a freshen up before you put it in, moreso with the CA18, ive heard they have headgasket and cooling system problems most of the time, so, if your going to look after the motor, by all means, use it.

but if your going on budget, and just gonna slap it in, theres no point, it'll make you regret it...

not interested in rotors, F20C is a scoobaru motor eh? not interested, too expensive...

managed to source an SR20 with auto box and torque converter and loom for $400, just need ECU.

what about the guy that buys S2000's, scraps the motors, and puts 2JZ's in them?! lol

for the price, just cant beat nissan p00, the cars are shitty throwaways, that arent even worth repairing after a stack, just part, sell half the good conditioned shit thats left, and buy a new one.

If i have cooling system problems i'll be pissed, i have an alloy radiator about double the width and thickness that i actually need

Maybe right about the headgasket, i expect it will be the first thing to go on mine. People do seem to have had success with them unopened though. I'll be running gt28rs on ~16psi

EldarO - As you said, SR20DE due to budget seems the go. But what about an SR20DE+T?

Just get a mannifold + turbo later. If the motor pops, get another DE?
