A 1vzfe was the pooey 2.0litre version of the 2vzfe (2.5litre). Basically you wouldn't bother with one... The 1vzfe was brought in as replacement motors when the 2vzfe's clapped out. We never received the 1vzfe in any Australian or Japanese delivered Toyota here so most of them come in as spare motors or halfcuts out of 1988–1991 Toyota Camry Prominent VZV20 and VZV3x 1988–1991 Toyota Vista.

Here is a pic that i received sometime back... not sure were from... but a 2vzfe in a TA22 chassis.

A few things that would need to considered when doing such a swap would a adapter plate for the transmission. A custom plenum would be advisable as the front wheel drive ones might not clear the bonnet and not fit too well.

My pick of the motors would be a 1mzfe. The 1mzfe's output is around 168-190 hp @ 5200-5400rpm. Being an all alloy block it would be light and retain a good weight distribution. It would have plenty of power for the chassis and retain that N/A quality and lets not forget that beautiful V6 note.

CA18DET is a great option, it may not be a Toyota engine but it's light and compact and has more than enough power for the chassis. Definitely a better option for this car than a 1G or 1JZ if you can get over the Nissan badge.

Personally I'd very much prefer a 3S-GTE, but if it was me doing/paying for the conversion I'm pretty sure I'd end up with a Nissan engine in there. Idealism is all well and good in theory, but when it comes to actually doing it, practicality wins nearly every time.

VZ or MZ would be best 6 cylinder option (they're both 60 degree V6 engines by the way). That said a turbo four of some description would be simpler and deliver same power/torque.

    Excellent info, cheers.

currently theres a 1MZFE powered camry sportivo in the garage (mums car), so i know about the torque and revs all too well, but the cost for one just cant be justified, considering the shit ill need to do to get it RWD.

it'll either be an SR20DE or a CA18DET. thanks all for help, ill rep yas when i can.

Nah...still might be snug driver's side anyway.

    Have seen a Commode V6 in a KE70 (I think) and they're a 90 degree V6 so gotta be doable.

By the way, how good is that Bonds Kaleidoscope ad?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZhSc...elated&search= Thank goodness for PYTs prancing around in briefs.

    Anyway, carry on....

Big diff with KE 70 and TA22 is the lack of a steering box.

How hot is the blonde at the start of the ad?

For all the people that go "Just put a beams in then you dont have to worry about RWD conversion" - ask MISFIT how easy it is to try and fit on into a 1st Gen.

an SR20 has heaps of aftermarket support. Id say if you wanted something RWD, cheap, and 4cylinder, go the SR20. At the end of the day, it will go faster than the T or R series.

Who cares if it has a Nissan badge.

yes, ive spoken to matty, and hes explained, and shown me the car, and the engine, and why they cant get along. another reason the beams isnt good idea for a budget daily.

Hey, it was an advertised flame... advertised flames (from my understanding) can be taken with some jest. This was intended to be the case.

For ease of install the nissan pOO will win, for cruising torque, the V6 will win.
