CA18DET is a great option, it may not be a Toyota engine but it's light and compact and has more than enough power for the chassis. Definitely a better option for this car than a 1G or 1JZ if you can get over the Nissan badge.
Personally I'd very much prefer a 3S-GTE, but if it was me doing/paying for the conversion I'm pretty sure I'd end up with a Nissan engine in there. Idealism is all well and good in theory, but when it comes to actually doing it, practicality wins nearly every time.![]()
