Lancer EVO Brakes into old Celica/Corolla/Corona
Doing the things that aren't popular... cause being popular and being good are often distinctly different.
engine came out 3 days ago and is now back in.
things done while engine was out:
-ground the 'ear' off the bellhousing that was touching the fuel line
-fitted oem o2 sensor
-put the lines in for a boost controller; easier with engine out
-made new power steering pressure line
-fitted a 350mm thermo fan to the front of the condensor
-fitted a good AC compressor, the old one was seized
-started opening the front bumper a little to improve air flow
things left to do
-make AC lines
-gas AC(and associated wiring)
-get cruise control working
-mount ECU
-put dash back together
-bleed rear brakes and wire in line locker
-fit standard MA61 LSD.
-fit boost controller
-do skids
unfortunately its developed a miss since the engine went back in. ignition related by the feels of it. so either igniter, coil packs or spark plugs. will look into it deeper tomorow
hello
since the last update ive done a few things.
i got the AC working, it works bloody good too
i also got the cruise working. i just needed to snip the NSW wire to the controller.

brett: pull the coil packs out and check for minute cracks along the stems.
when it misses does anything on the dash flicker when it misses?
if a single coilpack was to fail i would feel a drop back to 5/4cyls. what i am feeling is a complete miss of all cylinders.
hello
you fitted new fuel pump and filter?
correct. i think it done it with the old pump though
hello
bit of an update.
the missing problem has gone away when i started using a mates ecu. i borrowed the ecu 2 days before i went to cairns and it didnt miss a beat the whole way. I racked up 900 odd km in total.
ive since bought a supra ECU which hasnt arrived yet![]()
the gearbox is still going okay...
i still have cooling issues though. a short while ago the hydrofan blade exploded and took out the MX73 radiator. i reinstalled the factory copper-tank Z12 radiator for the time being and it seems to show the same symptoms. i also tried relocating the number plate for the trip and installing extensive underbody sheilding to help air flow. it didnt seem to do much however![]()
most of the time its fine, the temp will sit where its supposed to. when the aircon has been on for a few minutes it seems to just tip the cooling system over the edge and the temp goes up.
i also installed a stock MA61 3.909 LSD diff. its interesting to note the input pinion flange was different to the supra. i suspect it was a G series pattern.
thats about it i guess![]()
hello
Werent MA61 diffs F series IRS??
Have you checked that your thermostat opens properly??
Maybe you shouldnt sit on 100kph doing burnouts
Is the AC booster fan coming on??

Yah, and so are MZ12 auto.Originally Posted by o_man_ra23
But the MZ12 has a G series flange on the F series diff. And the drive shaft unis are larger in the z12 (and replaceable).
MZ12 manuals did actually get G series diffs!
