i guess your right, but then again running an uncovered oiled one *might* ignite... im sure if that that cop was speaking the truth, i'd belive it.
i can imagaine someone not doing fuel lines up properly or having cracked fuel lines, people over oiling them, or relocating them into bad positions like over extractors etc... im sure they would ignite, but due to there own ignorance rather than just having one in a stock location.

^^^ you could just redirect your windshield wipers and get the tube to spray fine mist into the inlet, if you really are desperate enough for extra power, whether or not it will increase power i cannot say for sure..
unless your intake is basically sucking air from behind the radiator...but thats just stupid!

And the winner of the big car race is......HOT ROD ZOIDBERG!
There's a good article at Autospeed explaining how to measure restriction in various part of the intake. The example car is a VL turbo, but the technique works on any car.
Interesting to note that the air filter element (OEM paper element) was only causing about 3% of the total restriction in this case. I'd be very surprised if this wasn't the case for most paper elements.
Good. Fast. Cheap.

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is knowing a tomato has no place in a fruit salad.
Its very common for engines with pods or trumpets with filters to catch on fire ei, sprintcars, carbies etc. The best thing you can do is keep the engine running and give it a rev. Providing it doesnt back fire again.
Wasnt nick2b the guy that had that 929 with the plates sxc929 and it was ugly as hell? lolOriginally Posted by Kyosho

Pod filters are good for sound and sucking in hot air if not mounted in the correct place.
