Need help with SP1 wire into ECU (1JZ Cressida)

SP2 and SP1 are very different signals, I doubt they are even compatible with each other.

The ECU will need both in order to not throw any codes.

On mine, I was having trouble finding the speed wire, so I did the lazy thing and removed the instrument cluster, and just connected to the speed sensor wire behind there. I connected that to both SP1 and SP2 on my auto ECU, and it seems to work alright.

Thanks for that Jabtronic, if you could find the cressida 7m pinout diagram I'd appreciate it, yeah the only one I could find was for the supra, bloody yanks. Every diagram is either a U.S.A 1990 cressida or series 2 australian model with completely different wiring harnesses.

1JZ conversion MX83

S1 loom, S2 cluster, where do i connect SP1 to on the cluster itself?

reprase... how on earth, does the S2 cluster (thats the elec speedo, not cable) get its speed signal from the gearbox?

is it magic? im starting to think it is

SP1 is the OUTPUT from the dash, not the input.

The Z30 Soarer has 3 wires that go from the speed sensor, up the engine loom, across the body/dash loom and into the dash. They do not go to the ECU at all.

I suspect the MX83 is the same, but the MX83 drawings I have dont have the speedo on it, so I'd say they are Series 1 drawings.

as far as i can tell, speed sensor -> cluster -> SP1 to ECM

SP1 is an output no doubt, but i have no cluster input at all. i cant for the life of me figure out where the input goes thanks for replying though

Sensor on gearbox gets mechanical signal and makes it electronic to send to dash...trace wires
