do i need to give u a captain obvious picture too
i know that there is no such thing as wastegate flutter, i also know how much norbie hates noobs, and how much he love to E-thug them when the stuff up

JZX83+ FMIC+ Twin 2.5" dumps to 3"+ FCD+ 2800rpm stallie+ 14psi - LSD - good tyres = 12.85 @105.58
The boobs are back
Depending on the design though some run a very soft spring (i.e. those designed with a larger surface area on the the vacuum side of the piston) which is easily overcome by moderate boost levels. The kind of people that need to prove this to themsleve are pretty thick anyway so it needs to be without doubt not openingOriginally Posted by cuzzo

nope then it will leak like a bastard.Originally Posted by cuzzo
you have to remove said bov and block the pipe (unless thats what you meant)
cheers

if i just get the piston tacked to the body would that be enough, or will it still leak around the piston, or would the leakage be negligible

If it's just like most aftermarket BOV open it, remove spring, add spacers, refit piston with silastic.
That won't leak.
Any half decent BOV will usually have an aluminium body and brass piston anyway so welding that would be no go.
There are about a thousand (well not quite) simpler ways to work out if your bov is "leaking" than welding the thing. Surely you could think of a few.

you could do that or just remove it all together and block it off.Originally Posted by Mr DOHC
with the auto you dont need a BOV but there still nice to have.
Best solution mentioned and the simplest.Originally Posted by The Real Roadrunner

Yikes, 2.5 secs!!! what was the turbo a T78?Originally Posted by The Real Roadrunner

Zero lag on gear change.
Totally agree with the Trust call. I run a Type R on the GT8 to try and shut the twin surge symphony the TTUZ otherwise plays...just a tad too attention catching![]()

The main reason it dropped off so much was when it came on in 2nd it would light the tyres then when you went for 3rd it wouldn't have the roadspeed and dropped the revs down too much but when the bov was fitted it stopped the turbo from stalling therefore lowering the response time to get it going again.Originally Posted by JustenGT8

Nice. Big fan of the Audi, they are such sleepers....the old(ish) RS4 with the TT V6 is a fave.Originally Posted by The Real Roadrunner

My friend's VL flutters and I can assure you it's not the wastegate, it has a screamer pipe so you KNOW when it's open!Originally Posted by Mr DOHC

You can get wastegate chatter but sounds very different to compressor surge and have only ever heard this on race cars. None of my turbo cars have ever done it that's for sure
I've never had a think about what would cause it but if compressor surge causes the boost signal to go a bit mad then that might cause the WG to fluctuate rapidly as well, producing the 'chatter'?
