Unhappy more problems for my st185

ok so i finally worked out my start and die problem with my gt4 which ended up being a great big vacuum leak behind the engine now i have an even bigger issue.. i had put the engine back after "fixing" a bhg.. i had the head grinded and got a mhg and new headbolts and torqued it all down .. anyway after 10 mins of running the coolant is brown and bubbling there is condensation and white residue on the oil cap, water coming out of tail pipe, car not running smoothly and oil starting to look milky.. so i guess its all got to comeout again.. i cant understand it though as i had the head grinded took the block in and they said it should be fine with a bit of a sand.. anybody done the same thing?? also is it possible for the turbo to leak water into the oil?? i'm pretty sure its not possible.. is it possible i missed something??

it's possible you missed something. did you clean the head + block, 2. did you get the right head gasket, 3. did you use the right torque settings ( the right sequence + the right amount of final torque) 4. did you drain the oil + cooland out in the first place, etc etc??

Paragraphs and sentance endings are good too

bad luck then dude. pull it out again, and get some pro help perhaps, since it's not worth running the risk of doing it again

I would say this is likely...for it to blow again straight away, thats pretty bad

    However, a side thought.

Im pretty sure most head gaskets come with a warranty?

However that might require that they be installed by a shop.

Did you service the radiator before refilling?

Look at that - grammatically correct too!

    nope didn't service the radiator..

i gave it another run and after a few minutes the water stopped coming out of the exhaust.. it still wan't smooth though

spoke to the guy at the engine rebuild shop and he said it was strange.. maybe the block wasn't 100% flat

there is still condenstaion on the oil cap after cleaning it before running it

Perhaps a little too much in the obvious category, but did you completely flush the oil and water??

i bet that's the problem, you ran the engine with the oil/water mixture from the radiator.

when i pulled the engine out i drained the radiator and the oil out of engine.. didn't have the radiator flushed or anything.. that surely wouldn't have done it..

That radiator (and the water galleries in the block) would have been covered in oil on the inside, doesn't take much to turn change the colour of water!

As a next step I would drain the oil, drain the water, flush the water several times ( I think there is some product you can use if there is oil in the rad) and then try again...

Did whoever serviced the block and head check for cracks? Was it definitely BHG the first time?
