tps in wrong spot
it's a switch to enable decel fuel cut - it's turning on when throttle is open instead of when its shut - that switch makes the ECU cut fuel until revs are just above idle (e.g. 1300rpm).
Well i have no idea how this happens so i am hoping somebody can help PLEASE.... the engine starts fine and will idle forever smoothly .
When i hold the revs at 1800 she still going smooth but when i hold on 2000rpm (when the tach light for 2k lights) it suddenly cuts off, drops to about 1300 then will rev back up to 2000 then same again etc...![]()

if i hold revs at about 2400 it'll stay there forever too !
This gives me a massive flat spot on acceleration so i obviously need to find the fault

If the chuckster's suggestions doesn't work, try clearing the ECU error cods (unplug power to ECU for 30 secs). I had exactly this problem on a 4Y-E over the weekend and solved it by doing that.

5ME doesn't store ECU codes - it's too low-tech for that level of capability.
LOL @ error codes on a 5M-E ECU. The thing is less sophisticated than a $5 digital watch!
Chuckster is correct, the TPS is misaligned. A multimeter and a bit of patience will sort it out.

Lower tech than a 4Y-E? That's amazing. Maybe my problem was in fact misaligned TPS and the ECU "fix" was just a placebo.

Chuckster = Bigger LEGEND !!!adjustment of the TPS by about 3mm worked a treat .
Only thing i can see now is the trail of black smoke when i decelerate.

odd that you should say spare engine - i have an unused 5ME in a supra out the front of my house - when i remove it to get the W58 off it, i'll have a 5ME to dispose of... for a reasonable fee![]()
