I'd start by trying to use the same source as the factory MAP sensor for the apexi one.
okay so my AVC-R is installed now and yes im dead certain everything is connected correctly.. all 6 wires that need to be soldered/piggybacked to the ECU have been done so and all the vacuum tubing has been put in place too.
now just to clarify vacuum tubing..
i have joined both actuator lines and t-pieced them in the middle. this has then gone to the COM port on the AVC-R solenoid. then i have blocked off the boost pressure source on the rear turbo and connected the boost pressure source from the front turbo into the NC port on the solenoid. the NO port is vented to atmosphere.
The MAP sensor that came with the AVC-R is plugged into and t-pieced into the vacuum line between the surgetank and the fuel pressure regulator.
problem i have is it doesn't appear to be working. the screen is showing -
BST - -760mm/hg (and it doesnt change off this!)
SOL - 0.0% (this does not change at all with boost)
all the rest of the monitor functions seem to work like RPM, Speed, Throttle etc.. For some reason the Injector monitor also seems to read a percentage, even though i havent got an injector line plugged in (Im guessing this is because it uses the exact same line as the RPM anyway).
so.. how do i get this bloody thing working? everythings connected alright, but the sensors just don't appear to be working?
EDIT - I just did a sensor check on it and theres definitely power going to them. The Boost solenoid was showing 0.024 volts thereabouts.

You've blocked off the boost pressure source on the rear turbo?
I connected both boost pressure sources on the turbo's via a vac line, T-pieced the middle and hooked that into the AVCR, effectively controlling both turbos as one unit. I did the same to the wastegate line.
Dan
good point dongah, but i plumbed it into the vacuum line next to the one the map sensor was plugged into first and didnt make bugger all difference.
also with regards to blocking off the boost pressure source, i ran them both t-pieced first, and then blocked it off. made no real difference as all you need is one source point anyway for the actuators to both be controlled.

Well it sounds as though you have exactly the same setup as me, except for the way you've got your lines to the turbo's connected. I also cut the vac line running to the map sensor about 10cm down, and t-pieced to the AVCR's sensor.
Dan
oh okay so you haven't spliced yours into the FPR vacuum line?
its just the installation manual says to do it that way.. maybe i'll try it back on the factory MAP sensor line first..

Nope, i spliced it as close as i could to the MAP sensor... the theory behind that decision was so that both of them receive very similar readings and boost is adjusted according to the same information that the MAP receives and sends to the ECU
Dan
well 760mm of mercury is a complete vacuum if that helps at all

Edit - If nothing changes on the display you may have the peak/hold function on. Push the furthest right button whilst driving to reset this. But my first suggestion is to go to settings, the first option is for boost and duty cycle settings and set it to at least 55% for 1 bar. It wont do squat til you set a boost level and duty

ok ill go downstairs after and set it to 55% and give it a shot.
even without it set there though, wouldnt it still show current boost from factory with the monitor though?

So your car is still running perfectly normally, except the boost doesn't display on the AVCR?
You're correct, even without setting the duty cycle, the boost should still read on the screen. Have you got all of the car settings set in the unit? ie number of cylinders and throttle type? (should be an arrow pointing towards about 2 o'clock)
Dan
yeap all thats set fine. should still be showing boost though... its not.

I'm wondering if its the little sensor itself that could be borked?
Dan
i hope not![]()
