Well its alive. Sorted out a few earthing problems, and fiddled with somw wiring and it shot to life. Im amped as! I have been waiting so long to get a bit of life out of it!

I ran it for a little while with the dump pipe off and no fan. Just for short intervals. Took a video if anyone is interested. Its hard to tell if it all sounds ok cos im not used to listening to these engines, let alone with no exh at all. Seems to be quite loud as you back off it you give it a slight rev?

    What do you guys think?
    Normal ish???

Thanks boys. It was a little reluctant the first time or 2. Clicks over and fires up very easily now. Ill get the pipe happening soon. Have a mandrel dump pipe to go on, then will try to sort out an exh. I need to do something about that floating intercooler too.

Sounds pretty right to me. Ive had my GTE in for 2 months now, and sounds pretty similar. Get ur dump pipe all sorted and it would sound identical to mine. You seem to have the mystical misfire that plagues all 1G engines on idle, Ive had 2 diff mechanics try to find the cause of my misfire to no avail, but anyway.
It started really quickly in that video, was it running a while before you filmed that? Either way it seems to be running rich like mine, a Proper dyno tune would sort that, Im saving for mine at the moment

edit, should also mention the metallic churning sound when ur turbos spool up is apparently normal, mine does it, maybe it means worn turbos, Im not sure..

Yeah, i had had it running a bit before i took that vid. Only a bit, in short intervals so it didn't get too hot. That metallic sound is a little offputting but its obviously exaggerated due to the lack of any exhaust and is being run in a reasonably enclosed area. Ill definately get it on a dyno when its all sorted and on the road. Thanks for the comments guys.

    hey guys,

tried to get my 1g running today without luck. I have spark, and fuel going in. But no fuel is returning. So i'm thinking its a fueling issue. Any ideas? Would there be any reason that fuel goes in but doesnt come out? cant see it leaking anywhere or anything.

it might be using all the fuel its getting, therefore none is going back to the tank.

what do u mean by "fuel going in".

Fuel reg? Maybe its flooding the engine cuz the fuel reg is blocked, not letting the fuel return to the engine?

my high pressure pump is pumping fuel, dont have a pressure guage tho, but it seems to be under decent pressure. (i took off the supply hose at the pump and it spat fuel everywhere) It shudnt be using all the fuel, unless the injectors are open all the time, which i'll check tomorrow.

I had a stuffed fuel red on a 22re that wasnt returning fuel back to the tank. To check if it was the reg, I disconnected the pressure line after the filter to eliminate a blocket filter and also bypassed the engine to check the return line by attaching a hose after the filter, straight down the return line bypassing the fuel rail. The engine actually ran for a minute without any fuel going to the fuel rail at all, just using the residual fuel in the rail. It then ran out of fuel and stalled. With the fuel system complete, it wouldnt start at all as it was being flooded.

I also tried removing the fuel reg and had the return hose dumping into a bucket. I pinched the return line to create a restriction to simulate higher fuel pressure and the engine would run fine. The more of a restriction, the engine would begin to stall as it was being flooded.
