G-clamp FTW!!! Disc spreader is only required when you have opposing pistons, when all pistons are on the same side as the calliper, a G clamp and either an old pad or a bit of plate steel are the go... much cheaper.

I don't see any reason why this won't work on an AE86 and similar. I've been scouring the wreckers recently for a combo that will work, but failed.

This would be a simple fix, the only thing I'm wondering about is the effect on camber the XT130 struts have, but it sounds like even this should be ok.

I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.

Great right up.. I might go down this road.. Nice and cheap.. +rep..

Anyone know if you can use these discs and calipers on RT142 struts and hubs? If you can will save me getting new struts and incerts etc. Also make for a much simpler job...

    Thanks,

    Chris.

i think the RT142 and RA60 strut is similar or the same do a search i think the guys easily upgrade RT142 brakes to RA60 brakes

Pretty damned sure those struts are the same. RT142 has the same stub axle angle as RA60, the same xmember, rack, control arms etc etc.

Hen, pretty sure AE86 struts are the same as RA23/28, which would preclude that this upgrade will indeed work for the AE86.

only difference that i know of between xt130 and st141/rt142 struts is that xt130 struts are threaded in caliper holes not positive but think camber is the same too ... steering arms are different tho

Nah BMXer... the RT142 etc items are the same as RA6x... which means they are made for a wider xmember (incidentally the xmember is the same between xT14x and xA6x)

the ae86 strut has a smaller axle so it isnt useable

whats the axle got to do with anythiong? you are replacing the whole strut arent you?

    problem would be camber etc.

Q:- will the use of this MX arm solve the camber problem..?

    Hilux/Peugot/Strut angles.. Questions & theory

Is there a strut that can be used with a RA60 - 65 or RT142 that will give a slight camber increase but still work with this brake upgrade... Would then be perfect...

    Thanks,

    Chris.

Yeah, XT130 will give a neg camber increase... Could be a lot of camber increase though.
