Default 300mm MA70 rotors on to early MZ20??

    G'day guys,

My stock ~280mm MZ21 rotors need replacing and it's going to be easier to replace them with some new rotors for the later MA70. As this means the caliper will need to be moved another 10mm away from the hub using the late MA70 caliper bracket i am wondering if the caliper would then interfere with the early MZ21 15" rims? Anybody have an idea?

    Thanks a lot,
    Ashlin.

I'd put money on it interfering.

Very very few 15" rims are capable of clearing ~300mm brakes.

Cheers mate, thats what i was thinking.. might have to try and hunt down some 280's then.. If the early Supra came with 280s surely they couldn't be tooo hard to find

I rang around a few brake places and they all only had 300mm supra rotors,

Besides getting some 300mm milled down to ~280mm, does anyone know of any other rotors that will fit? Apparently jzz30 rotors are 278mm (yes/no?) however they are about 6mm thicker.. so i don't think the standard mz20 caliper would stretch over them properly.. Plus i imagine the hubs and rotor hat would all be different.

look at the dba catalogue and find something that has the same hat height, dia and thickness as yours.
surely toyota would have put the same discs on a different model to yours and therefore it wont be that hard to find.

Pretty sure there are Tarago ones that are (almost) identical. Measure your ones up and sift through the DBA catalogue.

Thanks for the heads up guys,
I had a squiz through DBA catalogue

    MA70 Supra A300 B53.5 C22 E60 F5
    TCR 1 Tarago A279 B53 C22 E62 F5

so it's close, but no cigar.. when I've got some more time i'll have a good look through and try and find some that are a closer match.

    No. You misunderstood me.

There is a Tarago one that is almost identical to your MZ21 rotor. This means you will have to remove the rotor from your MZ21 (a 10 minute process) and measure it up. The critical measurements are A, B and C on your diagram.

Plan on measuring them up as the rotors are off the vehicle atm, just been busy this weekend. I'll give them a measure up when i get home from work tonight. Though i was under ther impression they were identical to the MA70 rotors bar their diameter *shrugs*

Those Tarago ones are very very close, i'll just have to double check the hat height and center hub diameter. Worse case, i could get some 1mm thick hub rings made up, i can't see why 0.5mm diference in the hat height would cause any problems.
