My 1987 ST162 automatic celica shakes when I stopped at the lights or at a stop sign when Im still in Drive. When I put it into neutral it clears right up, or park, but as soon as you go back to drive and still stopped it shakes again. Its a real pain in the ass.
I changed the gearbox oil but that didnt do much except make gear changes smoother.
Also when stopped in Drive the car idles at 800rpm, then when I put it into neutral or park it rises to 1400rpm, then I go back to drive it returns to 800rpm.
Any ideas?
Could this be two different problems?

As they say in the book, assembly is the reverse of dismantling, but slower cos you forgot where all the bits are
Thats another thread I started, the ISCV I cleaned had not effect on the shaking.
