come on guys i need to know asap surely someone knows
hi everyone im in the process of doing a gze conversion to my sx seca and im giving the gze a slight rebuild and i want to get the sc12 rebuilt/reconditioned aswell. Has anyone ever had one reco'd before, where from and how much roughly does it cost
cheers Matt

if you go to www.twosrus.com they have seal kits for the sc12 just rebuild it yourself
what is wrong with your current SC? does it even need rebuilding? bearings making noise? leaking fluid?

to my inderstanding its a very tricky fiddly job just pulling it apart. Not worth it imo as they are so easily replaceable...
OC is right, if its not squeeling or losing oil then probably not worth it. At best you might squeeze half a PSI out of it with t rebuild. (withouut changing any pullies that is)
Yeah - They aren't that hard to pull down, but you can't get new bearings so there's really no point...

well im in the middle of doing a conversion and the bloke i got the motor off said the sc was using oil so i figured while ive got the motor on an engine stand copping a rebuild anyway why not do the sc12 while im at it then i dont have to worry about pulling it off when the motors in the car
If it's using oil, it's could be the bearing seals.
Have a look at www.mr2oc.com in the AW11/supercharged section, there are a few sticky threads about dismantling superchagers and looking for bearings/seals there..

if your going to do it you should get the rotors re-teflon coated.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.
Except the coating is about 1/2 a millimeter thick, so it's almost impossible to get coated.Originally Posted by fixeruperer

some one send oldcorollas a sc12 so he can measure the coating and see if it really is teflon!
they have quite a rough finish to them

please, no more PMs!
I'm pretty sure it isn't teflon, I think it's actually an abardable coating and they are built slightly oversize and 'bed in' against each other to ensure a tight seal.
Over the years, naturally this coating abrades further and you wind up with the sick superchargers we all have now...

i'd heard that about other SC's, like the Eaton in one of the fords, but i hadn't heard the SC12 was also abradable.
i have an SC14, but it's a bit big to fit into the microscopes...
maybe if one comes up on yahoo for like $10.. i could do it, but....
or scrape a bit of coating off![]()

I've got a rotor with a chipped coating in the shed, I could break another chunk off and stick it in the mail...

hmmmm... we might be onto something...
i can't check for teflon at the moment, since it is a polymer.
If i can get easy (and unwatched) access to a Raman spectrometer, i should be able to.
I can't use GD-OES, as it's not conductive, and electron microscopes are not good with light elements (N, O, C, H etc.... will check about flourine)
hold off for a bit and i'll see what we can do(and then maybe post to someone who is sending me a bigger package)
