Any ecu codes if stock ECU?
Wiring to the igniter? (power, trigger signals to ecu, outputs to coils).
Cam sensors? Crank Angle sensor?
Power to coils?
Plugs?

Hey i've just refitted my 1jz back into my MA61... I've added a nasty great landcruiser turbo among other things.
The only issue i have is that i can't get it to fire! :/ The cylinders are definately getting fuel, and every now and then it does a little backfire fart from the intake, but it won't FIRE!
Anyone got any ideas?

Yeah it's the stock ecu, i think pulling the codes should help me (but i'm at the office for the day)
I changed plugs first but to no avail, then i swapped the ignitor. I checked all the knock sensor and cam/crank angle sensors and they're all hooked up!
It's hard to tell what should/shouldn't be plugged in though because there's so many extra wires in the loom for the auto etc...
Anyone in Brisbane wanna come round to Oxley tonight and help? (i live 5 mins up the road from Norbie)![]()
I think that means Norbie should come around![]()
Wilbo's list seems about right. Did the car run before you swapped the engine? (on a 1j). Could be a bad sensor somewhere and if so, I would be grabbing the old ones and whacking them in. Obviously check codes first.
I would, but busy tonight. If ya get proper stuck let me know, norbie isn't that far from meOriginally Posted by Rorge

Thanks Wilbo! Much appreciated! I think once i pull the fault codes i should be able to see what's up!
It's weird though, i had this problem last time we put in a new 1jz too. I can't remember what we did to get it to fire in the end...
You sure the timing and triggering is working properly? That sounds like it's well out of time...
I just checked the crank angle sensor and it all looks mickey mouse. Put it back together and still nothing!
If the ignitor wasn't working then you'll only get one or 2 injections of fuel before the ecu cuts the fuel.
Unplug an injector and put an LED and resistor (300ohm from memory) in the plug, then crank it over.
If it is constantly flashing as you are cranking, then the ignitor is working fine.
If it flashes once or twice then stops, then the ignitor is not firing.
(If it doesn't light up, turn it around)

Thanks for the tips!
Norbie came over today and we litterally tried EVERYTHING!
Firstly i removed, cleaned and refitted the crank angle sensor. It looked fine and was the one used on my last engine..
We're definately getting fuel, spark, and cranking.. The timing belt is definately set correctly at TDC! We checked for fault codes and it says there's no problems!
We threw a timing light on it and the boys said it appeared like it was about 30degrees out... How can this be when the timing belt is definately set correctly?
I'm guessing we're dealing with a dodgy cam or crank sensor???
ANY IDEAS??
wouldnt discount the ECU being bung, the caps tend to leak.
but definately sounds like timing doods.
sure it isnt something rediculously stupid that you've overlooked?
Elmo.
Are there any major differences in sensors or stuff between a jzx90 and a soarer?
which sensors?
Elmo.
not that I know of. Engine sensors.
Yeah i just mean like knock sensors and crank sensors.
It was very close to starting today. Sounded like it was just about to turn over!
I've been able to pull some codes from the ecu but i havn't been able to find a decent match from any error code lists yet. I was getting 6 - 2, 6 - 3, 6 - 4... Anyone know what that means???
