16" x 7" and 16" x 9" would be the better option. The steering is heavy enough with 7" fronts let alone going to 8" wide. Even if you run the same tyre on both rims the extra inch wide will increase the leverage against the steering. My 28 Steers better than most with wide front tyres and after driving Rivers RA25 I was almost tempted to fit some ^' wide and narrow tyres back on it.Originally Posted by The Real Roadrunner

The Blue TA23 at Roadrunners right now is getting an SR20, since your in the que anyway why not keep a good eye on how that goes. Personally I like my Toyota's powered by Toyota BUT if your going to modify it anyway then put whatever the hell you like in it.
By the sounds of things you plan to go all out on the running gear and leave it looking stock inside and out which is cool way to go. There are allot of schools of thought about what brakes, diffs and bits to use so take a good look through the members rides threads and try check out the cars you like the look and workman ship of. Its easy to get led astray buy people who haven't done just by reading online. If you keep your mind on the big picture you should do fine.
As for Diffs, keep in mind that if get a wider than stock diff, you will get less dish on your back wheels and its the dish that makes the look.
As for 1G's being to front heavy.
Generally thats what the people who get overtaken by them say. Sure in theory the less weight forwad of the front wheels the better. No question that this is true and a rearward and low set engine position is strongly encouraged. However a well set up xA23/28 will handle great and can be quite well balanced without stressing about the extra length of the 1G and will out handle the driving ability of most Celica owners. Besides if the weight really concerns you, then you should build the lighter (and sexier) TA22
At the end of the day what you need to decide is how much your prepared to spend and what you really want as an end result. Then you can match an engine package to that goal.
