Hi Guys ,
Does anyone know if there is an adjustment on the inner of the steering rack Tie Rod to take up slack or is it a nylon cup, or similar that has to be replaced.![]()
This is on a ST162 Celica.
Thanks
Chuck

Yeah from what it would seem looking at replacement items on Ebay etc. its just a matter of replacing the steering rod, spose I should have looked there first.
They are cheap enough $15.00 plus freight.
Tie rod end or rack end... which one are you asking about?
Neither are serviceable items, if there's slack in them then they're toast!
I am the sun
as above
tie rod end has the ball joint on it and is the outer most piece
race end is the long part that screws into the rack itself
get the names right or you get the wrong part!

So you guys are saying that the Tie Rod is the long bit that screws onto the Steering Rack End and the Tie Rod end is the bit with the ball joint on it.
Sorry I misunderstood

Thanks for your concern, but I was only having a lend of you, I do know the difference between the 2 , I thought I pointed that out from the beginning by the thread title.
I understand your good intentions, cause some might not know.
Some older style racks made it possible to adjust free play at the rack end by simply tightening the cup and relocking it.
your right some might not know, thats why i posted picslol
