Default 05 Sportivo: Won't rev past 3,000 RPM

    well hey guys..
my friends got a 05 corolla sportivo... we installed HID kit the other day and I think we accidentally short somthing out because when I tried to plug the globe into the ballast unit then i accidentally hit the unit on the outside and a small spark was created.. anyway we hooked it up and one side didnt work because we blew the headlight fuse for that side.. originally the HID kit was working but I think we blew up on of the ballast units
we replaced the fuse and put the original globe in and it was fine..
the nxt day he went to drive it and the engine light was on and the car will not rev past 3000 RPM.. whether in neutral or in gear.. just wanted to know did us shorting the lights out have anything to do with this? and what could be the problem.. all the fuses are fine we checked.. and we're taking it to the dealer this week to get it code tested
    any help will be appreciated
    thanks

The MAF sensor is stuffed, I did the same thing. See if you can claim it on Warranty, if not, get one from a wrecker. The 1ZZ-FE one is the same as well so there should be 1000's of them around

They are ~$500 from Toyota but you could pick one up for a fraction of that from a wrecker.

    Current Toyotas - Hamster (AW11)

yep, 100% sure it's the MAF sensor. I did it by dropping a Jaycar shift-light circuit board on the bonnet clip when testing the circuit out connected to the battery. It's also common for people to do when they install metal CAI pipes and accidently touch the pipe to the +ve terminal. If the car has a CAI I'd take it out, unless it is a TRD one with a receipt to show it was installed by Toyota, because that will void the warranty claim.
