Hey guys, sounds like my car is running on 5 cylinders. I chck the plugs, and one has a crack in the white part, is this the problem?

white part is the insulator. if it is cracked a) the spark may be shorting out from the crack to the suroundings, or b) the conductor down the middle is also cracked..
may as well change them all while oyu are there (unless you have Pt/Ir ones?)

ok thanks. I tried it in another bank, and it most def seems to be the plug.
Hi Guys
This maybe a bit of a thread hijack (sorry) but can anyone tell me what changing the temperature of your plugs actually does?
Thanx
it changes how much heat your plugs suck out of the combustion chamber, and how hot the plugs run.
google it, do some research!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What do you guys reccomend me run? 1jZGTE with Haltech E6x
7mgte with haltec
either what toyota recommends (prolly the pt or ir plugs) or what NGKspark.com.au recommend...Originally Posted by Koffee-Black

For a lightly modded 1jz BKR-7E's are the go koffee.
Thanks. Yeah reccomended stuff dont work to well, they miss all the time. Thats the ones Endless! Thanks! I think I had to gap my ones too.
Guys, is BCPR-7ES ok? I called up a place, and t hats all they have left in stock
I have heard of people running the bcpr6-e11 if you can get that one? The 7 just means colder than 6, and I think the 11 means gapped to 1.1mm stock (so regap to .8 or .7mm or so) but not sure what the S means? Search NGK website and see what the difference is.
*I haven't used the bcpr's as I have just changed from bkr6e to bkr7e and that has seen an improvement in idle quality. Haven't given it a hard run yet though. I was going to try the bcpr7e next time.*

..........Following is a brief list of various codes found in the NGK spark plugs. This is actually a copy of a document that used to be on the Motorcycle Tuning Resources page. Those pages are apparently down so I decided to post the codes here on the TL pages.
Example NGK codes:
[B] [P] [6] [E] [S]
[D] [8] [E] [S] [-] [L]
Field one: Thread Diameter A 18 mm
B 14 mm
C 10 mm
D 12 mm
Field two: Construction C Hex size 5/8"
K Hex size 5/8" with projected tip (ISO)
M Compact type
P Projected insulator type
R Resistor
SD Surface discharge for rotary engines
U semi-surface discharge
Z inductive suppressor
Field three: Heat Range 2 Hottest
10 Coldest
Field four: Thread reach E 19 mm
F tapered seat
H 12.7 mm (1.5")
L 11.2 mm (7/16")
If this is blank, an 18 mm diameter plug has 12 mm reach; and a 14 mm plug has 9.5 mm (3/8") reach.
Field five: Firing and construction A,B Special design (no details given)
C special ground electrode
G Racing use
GV Racing V-type
H Half thread
K 2 ground electrodes
L Half heat range
LM Compact lawn mower type
M 2 ground electrode for Mazda rotary engine
N Special ground electrode
P Platinum tip (premium)
Q 4 ground electrodes
R Delta ground electrode for BMW
S Standard 2.6 mm electrode
T 3 ground electrodes
V Fine-wire electrode, gold-palladium
VX Platinum tip (high performance)
W Tungsten electrode
X Booster gap
Y V-groove center electrode
Field six(after the dash): Wide gap 8 .032"
9 .036"
10 .040"
11 .044"
13 .050"
14 .055"
15 .060"
20 .080"
L Half heat range
N Special ground electrode (note: appears to be limited to BMWs)
