Agreed. That is why the moderators delete a thread or post as soon as they see it - to stop someone getting kicked repeatedly. Unfortunately, with all the threads and posts we can't get to them in time and the damage is already done.

However, we review the thread/posts and can return points if they've copped an unfair attack on their rep.

Also, it would be good to PM the mods if you see such an attack happening and also let us know what rep the attacked person was on when you PM us.

It's always a good policy to state, if you -ve rep someone, that you've neg repped them and any further beating would be pointless and not welcomed. The mods will see that and may return any further lost points to that person.

Not to wish any more burden on the admin but they should be able to look into incidents like that and send a warning to those who just chimed in to dish out some rep. There is no need for anyone who is not directly related or "first on the scene" to just dish out rep because everyone's doing it.

i think roof was just unlucky, made a little mistake and got beaten and belted with the rep stick.

hes righted himself now and has made some pretty good contributions, and seems like a friendly member.

it just proves, the difference between an innocent mistake (roof) and a f#@kwit (rollin).

I think it'd be interesting to divide rep by the number of posts a user has made to see how useful (on average) someone's posts were.

It'd certainly remove a lot of the useless posts that appear on the forums...

The only problem with that is, posts are only shown as posts in the General Car Talk and Technical sections...

If we take a gander at yours, you've made 43 posts with a rep of 128... Which is quite a good rep in my eyes, but you could have scored all that rep from posts in the Non Car Discussion section...

Yeah, it only works if total posts are counted, not just Tech./Car related.

you can know (to a certain extent) how many post have been made by a user,
I can see (without "admin" powers) that toymad has made a total of 80 posts. 43 of which are counted.

You can see up to 500 posts in the persons profile (if you know where to look )

Yes, you can check out someone's details if you're interested enough.
What I envisage would be a number under their rep rating that you could see at a glance.

This probably can't be (easily) incorporated in the forum software, but thought I'd share my thoughts anyway.

That was how we had it on the old forums and that turned into a competition to see who could get the most posts.

Yeah, I don't mean a number of posts addition, rather a number which is the average of their rep. per post.

That would be good, but then people like me wouldn't even be able to put things in the classifieds and such..
