Pretty average turbo if your going for power, pretty much scrap metal if you want any sort of substantial improvement's
Hi all,
I know honest to god F*** all about turbos and wanted to know a little bit more about the ct20 turbo.
All information would be usefull
Many Thanks,
Andrew
Pretty average turbo if your going for power, pretty much scrap metal if you want any sort of substantial improvement's
are you talking ct20 off a 3t or a ct20b off a gen 3 3sgte cause they are a completly different beast
if it's showing wear, don't fix it. get something better. even a ct26 is a substantial improvement.
i dont have one yet, am looking to go turbo on my 2tg.
TD04 would spool up pretty well on the 2TG i would think
well, what could i use with a 3tgte turbo manifold? as i do not have the time atm to fabricate my own manifold ( used to work at xzorst shop bowen hills)
you can use a ct26
i am doing this on a 2tg/3tgte engine i am building. it's quite simple. are you savvy with a diegrinder?![]()
im gettin there slowly (almost 18yrs old) but my old man is a genius backyard mechanic, in his younger days he couldve made a navy man blush
He has had many years of cars under his belt, although never with turbos, a new adventrue for us![]()
see the machined section on the exhaust housing? that is the modification i had to bolt it to a 3tgte turbo manifold. not a lot of work and a lot better bigger turbo.
how much $$$$ difference between ct20 and ct26???
well a ct20 is worth nothing in my opinion. a ct26 can set you back anywhere from $100 for a dubious looking one to $500-600 for a good standard one.
just looking for something, minimal shaft play, something that aint gonna F*** up on me within a year or two for say unda $200 at the most, i thort sort threw the wreckers shit
how do u go about the oil lines and stuff?
I doubt you will even find a ct20 with "minimal shaft play" for $200. a rebuild kit for a stuffed ct20 will cost you near on $300 if you can get one for cost then do the work yourself. what are you planning on doing for induction and ecu?? if you are worried about spending over $200 on a turbo i would say that's the least of your worries
