2TG Rebuild

Yeah I know...

I moved house and don't really have anywhere to work on cars anymore. The shell is good and straight, but needs a repaint and general tidy up.

At the moment it represents a considerable amount of dead money. While I can afford to finish it, I'm not super keen to throw more at it. I'm actually shopping for an old British car.

I have a soft spot for old cars, BM2002's, old Porsches etc. A guy at work has a nice E-type Jag. Great looking car, poity I dont fit that well into them.

Porsche Speedster would have to be up there for me!

I have seen it readily available on the interweb and its been condensed 3 hour account of Mark Evans doing a full restoration on this Jag that was bought from under a tarp in the UK. Some useful tips and it shows the bead blasting process too.

Before you go asking questions, do you ever think... maybe I've been told this answer before somewhere else.... such as in the thread you made!

let me remind you... it went like this

I have a TA22 with a 2TG that I may be willing to part with in Adelaide.

Its not a complete, turn key project though.

Body wise, the car is very straight (aside from the front quarters, of which I have 1 replacement) and would suit a restoration, but has very bad paint and some surface rust on the roof. The interior is average at best.

The engine is a 2TG with a 3T crank, forged I beam rods and 89mm pistons. It has been fully rebuilt (at a cost of approx. $7500, but is yet to be completed (the head is not bolted to the bottom end, and it requires tuning I do have the custom head gasket and all (most?) of the parts required to finish it off.

Due to the fact that I have moved house and dont have somewhere decent to work on cars I would be willing to let it go for approx. $6k. Let me know if you're interested in some more details.

So to answer your original question, I believe Terry wants approximately $6000. If you were actually keen on buying a TA22 then perhaps pick up ya phone and call some people or better yet, remember what people have said previously and don't ask the same questions over.

Yeah thanks for the reminder about my thread. I asked about the engine price as he has not Yet stated what he wants for engine alone. 6k was for the car and engine. If he wants to sell it sepately I am sure he will give us a ball park price of what he wants for it, but thanks again for your help Gerald
