i think it is not able to pump out that much current.. usually it just drives the optocoupler.. ie, turns an LED on and off... so i assume low current.. mayeb too low to trigger an igniter?

the dwell appears to be set by the VR itself? maybe? but i dunno when it turns off..
there must be something on the forum abotu it.

i found this.. so it's not meant to drive the optocoupler, just the CPU directly!! so it must be a low voltage.. i guess you could change that 4K7 resistor, but you'd need to check specs of the LM1815 to see what current it can handle..
Yes, Eric's right (as always). The EasyVR circuit is not designed to drive the optoisolator, its ouput is designed to be fed direct to the processor port (TSEL on a V3 main board, ).

edit: it looks liek you can set the voltage for the triggering of the VR circuit.. but still, in this case, the return to a 0V digital output will occur at the end of the +ve part of the reluctor signal.. ie, it triggers going from -ve to +ve, and then returns to non-triggered when the +ve becomes zero again...

so that would mean the "dwell" changes with RPM...

so i guess you would need to use it as an input only, and then trigger the coil using another circuit...

actually.. thats what the Jaycar HEI circuit does... except the other way around... it uses the iput signal to fire, and then is dwelling for all the rest of the time..... might be worth a look.... but then again ..

DELTAMAX is a fully programmable ignition controller in a compact, rugged and affordable package. It is designed to perform reliably in such harsh conditions as the engine bay of a car, simplifying installation: there is no need to penetrate firewalls for new wiring looms.

DELTAMAX operates best with Hall effect and inductive distributors. With these types, the input signal is processed internally by on-board circuitry and the main high-current transistor is also internal, i.e. no external module is required. The unit is re-programmable using the software and programming cable provided. It may be removed from one engine and re-installed on another engine of a different type.

DELTAMAX includes a rev limiter which may be set in 50 rpm steps up to 12750 rpm.

DELTAMAX may be used to replace hard-to-get ignition controllers for imported vehicles such as Fiat, Lancia, Alfa and others. It may also be used in conjunction with an upgraded distributor to replace the entire ignition system in vehicles such as Ferrari and Lamborghini.

DELTAMAX has provision for two ignition maps with simple switching between maps. This feature may be used for competition when different fuels (such as avgas) are used; and in dual-fuel applications where substantial gains in performance can be made by providing the ideal maps for both petrol and LPG without any need for compromise.

Deltamax..... looks ok, even pretty good actually,

crap website and bugger all real info on things like load sensing and band resolution etc

usual story for $330 its not overly cheap!

ahh thats the one... something happened with testing of units, but i can;t remember full story.. i'll ask my mate..

they did look promising tho... but.. not sure they are actually available as yet.
